We need to grow up as a nation...
by Disenchanted on Thu Nov 25, 2010 05:14 PM PSTI hate to sound poetic but that's what we need. We are not sheep in need of a shepard be it Shahe shaahaan or supreme leader!!
We need to educate our people. Religion has limited our options. Unfortunately there is no alternative to education and awareness. That would take time though. It will inevitably arrive one day but that takes time. Meanwhile we have to limit the suffering. We have to contain the tyranny.
As for Monarchy index in Darius post. Lets not pretend that Shah in Iran had the same meaning that it has in Sweden. Shah was next to god. Omnipotent. Accountable to no one. Remember "Khoda, shah, meehan" slogaan?!
Monarchy is either real and has power or it's a decoration. In former case it is harmful. In latter case it is useless. So why bother?
How does it feel to throw away your "iphone" and go back to original phones in 50 years ago?! That is equivalent of going back to monarchy. Common Darius jaan. Lets use our imagination. We can do better at least in theroy.
Again, true salvation for good Iranian people comes when most of us become educated and familiar with the modern science and technology. Iran rural areas are a drag on county's progress. These are people that allegedly voted mostly for Anejaad!
DK, dodo ;o)
by Rea on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:41 PM PSTIranians, fascinating as always. Don't want this, don't want that. Always don't.
Anything they want ?
Disenchanted
by Rea on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:28 PM PSTAgree entirely.
But, who do you have to offer in the meantime ?
Disenchanted Jaan The Democracy Index claims the opposite
by Darius Kadivar on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:31 PM PSTIt happens that Some of the most advanced, progressive and democratic countries happen to be Constitutional Monarchies many were even restored during the 20th Century as late as 1975/76 as Far as Spain is concerned:
HISTORY FORUM: Franco's Ghost- Spain's Painful Road Towards National Reconciliation
The Democracy Index is an index compiled by The Economist examining the state of democracy in 167 countries, attempting to quantify this with anEconomist Intelligence Unit Index of Democracy which focused on five general categories: electoral process and pluralism, civil liberties, functioning of government, political participation and political culture. According toEconomist Intelligence Unit's Democracy Index 2008 Sweden ( A Constitutional Monarchy) scored a total of 9.88 on a scale from zero to ten, which was the highest result, while North Korea scored the lowest with 0.86. The countries are categorized into "Full Democracies", "Flawed Democracies", "Hybrid Regimes" (all considered democracies), and "Authoritarian Regimes" (considered dictatorial. See Here
And One More Link for you to consider whenever you feel fit. (No need to go through all the links today they are just food for thought)
THE PAST IS A FOREIGN COUNTRY: How Would You Evaluate Iran's Democracy Index in 1953 ?
OK Got to go to Bed on this side of the Atlantic.
May get back to this thread later tomorrow.
My dear compatriot...
by Disenchanted on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:15 PM PSTI guess you posted enough link on your post that if I were to read all of them I would never have come back! :-)
Common sense says Reza P. is not exactly his dad and can not be held accountable for his dad's deeds. From what I have read about his views he comes across more modern and reasonable for most part.
As I said, If and when it comes for people to choose their future leader we will see how popular he is. But again, I will not vote for him for the simple reason that we deserve better and can do better.
Just because current regime is losing its legitimacy doesn't mean we have to go back to Monarchy! Theocracy and Monarchy are not the only choice in front of Iranians.
Even beyond that, in this day and age advocating Monarchy is really reactionary. The top-down management, having a king or supreme leader are medieval concepts.
For my money, Iran future must belong to technocrats. Let our educated, bright, well meaning youth take us to the next century.
Our people are tired of Tyranny of kings and clergy. They are also burned by half cooked idealogies of Mojaahed and Marxists.
No one could deny the mass uprising against the shah. Unfortunately for all of us we had to learn the hard way. We replaced one tyranny with another. Religion is partly to blame.
Agreed,
by dingo daddy En passant on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:11 PM PSTIran could use the Monarchy with able leaders.
It is what we have been missing, what gives us pride and dedication.
If not him, who do you have ?
by Rea on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:01 PM PSTGive me one name. And tell me how you see it 7 yrs down the road?
Opaaa, DA said. May not mean the same thing but I love it. ;o)
He and his father
by statira on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:02 PM PSTstill to this day have been the best people who deserved to rule Iran. They had more compassion, love and understanding to their people, history and Iran compare to all the different political groups from Islumists to Marcsists.
Disenchanted Jaan
by Darius Kadivar on Thu Nov 25, 2010 03:08 PM PSTNow that is what I call a constructive dialogue and reaction. So My Hats off to you for your healthy reaction.
Here are a few links in regard to your questions:
ROYAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Crown Prince Reza on Torture During His Father's Rule
ROYAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Crown Prince Reza Praises Mossadegh's Patriotism (ANDISHEH TV)
REPUBLICAN OFFSPRING: Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in Savak Prison (1970's)
HISTORY OF VIOLENCE: Man Arrested For Being a SAVAK Agent (1979)
As for corruption that is often an ambiguous word. Corruption exists EVERYWHERE including in Democratic countries :
Be Them Republics:

Or Monarchies:
ROYAL FORUM: Unauthorized Bio Tarnishes King of Sweden's Reputation With Wild Sex Allegations
That does not mean that the head of State or governments are Entirely guilty of that charge for that matter.
The Shah's Iran was no more no less corrupt than many of it's own neighbouring countries and certainly far less than anything we see today:
Millionaire Mullahs - Forbes.com
Now I would like to know When will you Jomhurykhah's accept accountability for your own Failed Experience in terms of corruption, torture, national self denial and many other shortcomings for which I have never heard the slightest excuse for your own Poor Choice 30 years ago ?
BOOK: EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME By Afschineh Latifi ( A Memoir )
And please don't insult my intelligence by giving me the recurrent argument given by your like minds that your Revolution was Highjacked.
Hichi !!!
Just to remind you that one can very well be a Democrat and Not specifically a Republican aka Jomhurykhah ... It's called Constitutionalism in my Book:
Pro Bakhtiar Demonstrations (1979)
That's what I aspire to. Does that make me or my like minds qualify to be dubbed as corrupt blood thirsty sadist warmongers for that matter ?
I think not !

by Disenchanted on Thu Nov 25, 2010 02:19 PM PSTLets start with positives. I like your hat :-) From what I have gathered, you are of good spirit and not too mean in your posts either!
Now, Did I miss something?! I know about Zogby international which is a polling inst. Is there also a "Kadivar international" that came up with 70%?! :-)
Lastly, as I said I find you of good spirit. Honest to goodness, tell me bro, what do you think of Savak torture chambers and fraud and corruption in Shahenshah regime?!
Disenchanted that already makes 70 % of Iran's population ...

by Disenchanted on Thu Nov 25, 2010 01:37 PM PSTThose who benefited during his dad's rule and those who are too young to remember the corruption and tyranny!
I guess if you get enough of those groups to vote for him he may have a future in Iran. He won't have my vote though!!
Monarch, Mojaahed, Molla and Marxist have nothing new to say for IRAN!

Sargord, if he is irrelevent why do you care
by seannewyork on Thu Nov 25, 2010 12:01 PM PSTwhy would someone post at every opportunity on a Mr. Pahlavi speech/post if you thought he is not relevent? Obviously he is relevent and you are adding to hisrelevence by posting every time. good job
mr. pahlavi makes a lot of sense and none of these eslah talabs make any senese. i would hate to be in your shoes sargord when mr. pahlavi actually gets his message across to the youth of iran. that is what most pahlavi haters are scared of, they dont know what will happen when the youth hear his message.
WHO DO YOU WANT TO LEAD?
by afshinazad on Thu Nov 25, 2010 11:40 AM PSTIf some people are aginst RP or don't like him because of? and question is who do you have in mind to lead? GANJI or BANI SADR or MOUSAVI ( little komenie) or MARYAM RAJAVI ? If Reza Pahavi is advocating democracy for the motherland and if he is trying to reach free countries for support of our people and he keep repeating himself time after time that when Regime is out and it is Iranian people will choose what type of govenment we should have and he is open for republic or monarchy or any other type. after all what is wrong to have monarchy after all he is not going to rule the country.ofcourse I understnad every one has the motive and self interest and after all I don't see any credible person wants to lead and I hope some one will tell me if they are against RP, who is the right person to lead?
Funny how you all speak of
by norooz on Thu Nov 25, 2010 10:26 AM PSTFunny how you all speak of freedom and democracy and want to torture Sargord for speaking his mind just because he doesn't agree with you. Even though, he has never used any profanity or disrespectful language on anyone as far as I have read his comments. Anonymouse, try to make yourself human first before trying on others. Good luck.

Sargord should keep
by TheMrs on Thu Nov 25, 2010 09:22 AM PSTSargord should keep talking. His comments are very funny. Everytime he argues about something, it's like he's shooting himself in the foot (is that what they say when someone does more damage than good?)
As for the ex-prince (he's not a prince anymore now is he?): I would say LET HIM EAT CAKE. But, looks like sneaky fellow already had a few thousand of them....
