Just Not Very Good

by O. on

She put herself out there and published her business information. She can not expect blind support  just because she is Iranian or 'Persian' or even a 'Persian Kitty' as she calls herself while making offensive, low quality jokes that frankly if they had come out of the mouth of a nightclub comedian could be considered hateful material.

People who produce Bernard Manning quality comedy may not recieve the support they expect.

These 'jokes' of hers are not any funnier just beause instead of a white male, they are put out there by a beige woman.

Farnoosh

Let's see....

by Farnoosh on

Pesteh, Badoom, Tokhmeh, Nokhodchi, and Gerdoo ALL thought Yasmine Cortier wasn't good enough for them!  One of them even googled her and found her business background and decided to degrade her business acumen on top of her skills as a standup comic!

What a bunch of nice people we are!  We hide behind madeup names and avatars and tear another Iranian out when good or bad, funny or not, at least she has had the balls to dare do something under her own likeness and name.

If Yasmine has developed material which she thinks may appeal to her mostly non-Iranian audience,  there might be a very good reason for it.

There is no support to be had from Iranians on Iranian.com.

Shame on us for displaying behavior which we would never display if we were using our real faces and names.

Morrovat ham khoob chizieh khanoomha ha va aghayoon.

Low Quality

by O. on

The entire act is very embarrassing for her, breathing heavily and sweating profusely in order to make a few low information residents of Spokane laugh,to very little success.

It is all fine and dandy to make jokes about eating animal genital and genital castration, if the material was any good, but it is not.

At this day and age she will have many other more talented Iranians to compete with in the field of comedy, and she keeps calling herself the only 'Persian' comedian, which is clearly not true.

I would say, do not give up the day job, but she already has.

She is the proud owner/sole profreitor of PKitty Productions and Promotions since 2000 according to;
//www.linkedin.com/pub/yasmine-cortier/1a/910...

What has she been producing and promoting?
Is this video clip the result of 10 years of work?
Oh dear. . .

bambi

junk

by bambi on

She is very comfortable with herself, and projects a spontaneous and fun persona.  However as some others mentioned as well , I don't believe her material reflects anything  Iranian.  Right off the bat, I thought her costume and finger cymbals were odd.  I found her comment that bull's ball is a national dish so bizarre.   And other junk throughout the whole show. It  totally sucked.

Peykan

Unrepresentative

by Peykan on

She appears the embodiment of a superficial combination of many exotic subcultures but none of them sounds/looks Persian, as she claims to represent. It seems like feeding misinformation to a misinformed audience. I admire her braveness, nevertheless!

Uncle Tom

by O. on

Right, I get it. 'Persian' Americans want to be funny in order to be accepted.

However, there is a fine line between perhaps somebody like Shappi Khorsandi (British-Iranian Standup comedian) and this lady.
