In order for people to care they need to know about it. Publicizing things is a very important step. Many problems have been addressed when would attention goes to them. For example we always try to publicize executions in Iran and sometimes it works.
I think it would be to the benefit of Bosnians if people like you told us what you know. You have two people here: me and Emrooz who have asked you. Plus many people read IC. It will be a small but real step in publicizing Bosnia's plight.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Oct 16, 2010 03:31 PM PDTThank you for sharing this with us on IC. I am sorry to hear that. I honestly don't know much about the whole situation. You are right most American people don't know much about former Yugoslavia. Nor do most Iranians.
What do you think will happen? Will Bosnia dissolve and parts of it get taken by other nations. What will happen to the Muslim population.
Regarding Iran. It sort of happened several times in our history. The first time was after Alexander invaded then died. The nation became basically a lot of mini states for a couple of centuries. Then it was reunited. Then the Arabs invaded and we got "absorbed" into the Caliphate. In the 19th century Russia gobbled up a good portion of Iran. Most recently in the 20th century Shah was made to give up Bahrain by West. Borders are fluid and what dissolved may re-form.

by Rea on Sat Oct 16, 2010 02:24 PM PDTWhat bothers me is that "Bosnian experiment" is about to fall apart. In about 5 years there will be no Bosnia. The time needed for the US and EU to agree.
What bothers me also is reading IC Americans who know nothing about ex Yugoslavia but they talk about it regardless.
Hope it will never happen to Iran.

Ban Baklava?
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Oct 16, 2010 11:27 AM PDTWhy do French ban Baklava? The Greek kind or the Persian kind :-)
Now to the serious: Burgha is a security risk. In Iran plenty of men have used the chador to get away. In Afghanistan men have used the burgha to escape detection.
In addition it is an expression of woman's subjugation. I do not blame France.
However I do think that it also has to do with Islam. The French do not want the Islamization of their culture. They want all French women to be free. The burgha goes in the face of it all.
In addition *some* people would just as soon have the radical Muslims pack up and go. What better way than to make it impossible for them to practice their radical version. This is my guess. Maybe I am wrong. So Rea please do not get mad at me.
Oh Lord!
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Oct 16, 2010 11:10 AM PDTNow I have to explain this to Amir***.
France banned a "subset" of Hijabs not the whole thing. The full set of hijabs includes: Chador; Ro Sari; and Burgha plus probably other dress. France allows most forms of it. Just one extreme form was banned. With good reason. So it is inaccurate to say France banned hijab because it didn't. Just one version of the thing.
Plus there is good reason to do so. Right back in Iran we had situations where men would wear chador to escape the law.
PS.

by AmirKabir on Sat Oct 16, 2010 10:35 AM PDTYou wrote, France banned Burga not hejab. Are you saying Burga is not hejab? That is still hejab and some are forced to obey by the banning. Some wear veil and cover half of their faces.
Burga, veil and scarf are all hejab.

Dear Friends
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Oct 16, 2010 09:58 AM PDTThank you Simorgh and Dariush for your kind words.
Amir (the real one). Of course an Islamist is incapable of telling the truth. Islamists get their marching orders from the arch liar Khomeini. We all know the documented lies he made. To them lying for Islam is not just legitimate but required. Taggiyeh is a part of their lives.
Too bad for Islamists it does not work on Iranians anymore. Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. We have learned *never* to trust an Islamist. But the Westerners have not yet learned this. In their point of view people are basically truthful and good. They have not met enough Islamists. For their sake I hope they figure it out before it is too late. In Europe it is pretty bad but at least in the USA we have ways to go. Thankfully must of the immigration here is not Islamist.

Another day, another Islamist liar
by AMIR1973 on Sat Oct 16, 2010 08:24 AM PDTAs for France, that was what i meant, by passing the law. The law of banning Muslims hejab in public, you fool.
Once again, this particular Islamist is lying. The French ban on burqas does NOT ban "hejab in public". Muslim women who live in France are free to continue wearing hejab in public, except for the burqa. There are several million Muslims living in France--some wear hejab and some don't; only a few hundred women there wore the burqa anyway. It's as clear as day that Islamists are literally incapable of telling the truth. Lying is too deeply ingrained in their character, and nothing can change that. Cheers :-)

You go back to Mohammad and the invading Arabs. By your mullahs its was "jahl" before the soosmar khors attacked. I don't agree. I don't like shire shotor va soosmar as your god "Imam Khomeini" does. Before your idiotic revolution the 60 year old Muslim didn't have to fight. It was YOUR asshole Imam that kept the fight going. He called the war a blessing. He refused to take the peace when Arabs were going to pay us off. Now you have the nerve to blamee me for it. When we had the Shah we were safe. But the Islamist **** ruined it for us all. France has passed no such law. They have banned the burqa, which is worn by only a few hundred women out of the several million Muslims living in France. They have not banned "hejab" in France, and anyone who has been to France could see with their own eyes Muslim women wearing "hejab". Ehsan Karimi aka Amir Kabir is lying.
