by Arthimis on Mon Oct 25, 2010 05:01 PM PDTI respect this man for his honest and energetic views and art eventhough, I'm not crazy for his type of music/art personally, in general...
However, I felt sorry for him during this interview and other Iranians (Ham-Meehans) from South especially... It seems that they carry a lot of pain, hurt and disappointments from the rest of us, especially from Tehranis and People from Center (Markaz) of Iran. For the way they have been treated as second class citizens for so many years, because of their race and dialect perhaps!! It is very sad and shameful...
I pray for the day us Iranians really unite as a nation against Dictatorships, Ignorance, prejudice, selfishness, showing off and narcissism...

Shambezadeh: a political promotion
by shaw on Sun Oct 24, 2010 09:27 PM PDTMaybe it's the African looks speaking farsi that entices his audience. Or maybe it's his public mockery of Monkeynejad to say he's one of us. I think it's the charm, charisma, and confidence, but as far as music goes, Iranians had more sophisticated music and dance 2500 years ago, as well as before 1979. Shambezadeh should consider that when he complains that he's gotten nothing from the current regime.
Watching Shambezadeh hump a big pink bag-pipe that sounds like a pig making love, just as it appears, made me wonder why his biggest fans resemble the bovine Iranians who cheered for Khomeini, at the expense of our country, and our world class orchestra that they banned initially.
It is a painful reminder of the regression of our culture. It hurts to see Iranians cheering for primitive entertainers instead of encouraging a our talented artists to raise the bar, to lead the progression and evolution of art and music that the rest of the world surpassed with Mozart, Tsaikovsky, or Beethoven. This kind of music has stayed in the daahaat because that's what it's good for.
With his nuggets of anti-imperialism, maybe he needs an education to learn that the West has built upon and advanced what they took from Iran while we keep getting pulled backward by tribalist idiots and mullahs who seem not to mind him.
It's why he rips on Germany, through poetic charm.
After following Pezhham Akhavass and other more sophisticated Iranian musicians with greater musical skill, Shambezadeh sounds like a juvenile doing ABCs. Watching Shambezadeh next to his domback player, clapping his hands together, however enthusiastically and energetically, reminded me of a toy -- a monkey with arms that swing together, crashing symbols together repeatedly -- made for kids.
It is primitive level talent branded and sold as high-art.
If my critique sounds harsh, it is because ancient Persians had already advanced art and culture beyond this level, and NOT by promoting talent just because it comes from the boondocks. Since, Shambezadeh openly mocks compatriot musicians and artists in cities, or those relocated to Los Angeles, let him take what he dishes out. Most of them have children with more musical talent, but without the arrogance or the audacity to take center stage, and your money.
Even the cheesiest Iranian musicians have more pride in their musical talent than to resort to going shirtless as a gimmick.
Observing the female response to that, it's a reminder to Iranian men: to snap out of guilt ridden mental intellectualism. Women coo for this guy because he offers what you don't: fun loving, care free happy to be a living man who likes to hump. You already have more talent and skill yourself, and you guys know it. Shake your own asses and BE that something your own women adore. He doesn't care that he acts like a fool. Neither should you.
Who knows, maybe if you humped more, you might reclaim Iran from idiot mullahs. Seriously, the reason women drool for him is the same reason your country was taken by mullahs and western douche bags. Grow some balls. Take pride and JOY in YOUR natural indulgence in the bedroom (or wherever you want to knock your lady's socks off), not theater seats watching this guy do it for you, singing worse than you do in the shower.
Shambezadeh's emphasis on Bushehr is a stark indicator that this semi-talented, albeit very gutsy, charismatic, and good-natured man, has been thrust to the spotlight and headlines to humanize Bushehr and make it unpopular to bomb the nuclear facility and the residents.
Even with that force thrusting him to the spotlight, I respect Shambezadeh for stepping up, but with the caveat that he needs to improve his show instead of criticize other musicians. For that, and for ripping on Western (imperialist) music, he's a douche. He'd be wise to push his so called "art" to a higher level that gives them a run for their money instead of being a reckless political punk. Iranians will be expelling the mullahs and any other mediocre or regressive junk being sold to the world as Iranian.

To me this indicates that such a person has nothing else to be proud of but the accent or place of birth. This is what you wrote:
Also. there was no reference to Criticizing western influence at all That is something You wish to extract and pull outta it.

All you have to do is listen to the Part 2 from 9:05.
Next after the "Idiots" comment, you said:
he corrected himself
Totally false, and never happened. He did clarify only to say "naghsheh darid", that's not "correcting" anything.
Then you retort:
Again you are getting it backwards as usual and putting your own spin on things.
Read the 2 objections I wrote about (Tehrani elitism, and Western influence being valued more by Iranians). Yours is not a response.
Obvious? loool. Yeahh. Ok there pal.
See 3 examples above. He specifically uses the word "western". That would be obvious to most people who are not blinded by their own arrogance.
Ahh. Good. A lot of people needed to see that coming from you Just to be sure. Thanks for making that declaration.
Yes, people need to see that you put words in other people's mouth, either becuase you get off on it or because you couldn't understand the original. I never called myself roshan fekr, but you seemed to think I did. You've been proven wrong. Now you're, once-again being a sore loser about it.
Yeah but so what? So does Fox and so does CNN in various shape and forms
No, wrong once again. FOX and CNN are private for-profit companies, nobody gives them tax money.
Has it crossed your mind that some of these Tax-payers whoes moeny supports VOA's functions and programms may actually like what they see on this show?
LOL! Yes, you got one thing right! Many of the Iranian-Americans do like it, and do pay taxes. Too bad the mission of the VOA is to broadcast to non tax payers around the world.
Jon stewart and parazit have the same mission.
Oh please! You're playing dumb. The VOA mission is stated public charter, the US law that founded the organization.
The rest of your blab is basically "I lost the argument, so instead I will attack the speaker, making up fantasies about him"... so typical, for sore losers.
daneshsh, seriously believe it! Truth hurts.
Ohhh Q
by mash Ghanbar on Sun Oct 24, 2010 09:44 AM PDTListen to Part 2 from 9:05. He uses a specific example to show what he's talking about. He says if some accomplished master plays Sorna (Persian flute), versus some amature playing Flûte traversière, the people will think the guy playing the Western instrument is of a higher class, even if he is horrible. He continues saying if someone plays the Piano, like the people who advertise all over Tehran, that person is seen as having higher worth than those playing traditional Iranian instrument. He says the same thing about the Guitar saying "noone sheklesh mikhoreh", meaning it is only popular because it's western.
Noone sheklesho mikhore has nothing to do with it gets all the attention because it is western or meaning that he is trying to object to the westernization idea. Are you too dementedly dogmatic as to miss this simple point? One needs to only mention something that is remotely related to a western phenomenon and that does it for you right??? Oh look people. The west ... The evil west is being criticized or honored here?? You are so out of it,
Later, he refers to the Kronos Quartet and says if that group chose to adopt or jam with an Iranian musician it would be front page news all over the world (meaning iranian media would find it worthy and praise it because it involves the prominant Western group).
Not necessarily, Again you are getting it backwards as usual and putting your own spin on things.
This is all very obvious, Mash Ghanbar, how could you have possibly missed it?
Obvious? loool. Yeahh. Ok there pal. So many things are "obvious" to you that in reality they are not, is that not the case?
Are you one of those people who physically becomes deaf when there is something they don't want to hear?
Nop. That would be you. Everyone knows it iran here,. Not only that, but this will be followed up with your cries of ''ohhhh someone is follwoing me around and stalking meeeeeeeeee.... ""
So much for you "point 1". Yeah. and so much for you proving me wrong LOOL.
What is my "propagandizing" way of looking at it? It is a satire as you say, so "clown show" is appropriate. I haven't seen any evidence that more people look at this show in Iran than they do outside of Iran. But even if that was true, many people love watching bad American movies and pop music videos, so a "clown show" could be popular but not as seriously, not as news, and therefore not an effective way to do anything about the kind of injustices the show supposedly cares about. So it functions just like MTV and Hollywood, i.e. American propaganda.
Clown show?? now you are inventing terms?? Where did you dig that from? Of course you do not see the evidence for anything if you decided and choose not to, case in point : you.
Comparing bad movies and Shows such as this one, is like Comparing Noon sangak with Khoroosh Q bashi. You can not compare the popularity of some bad and junk movie With this show that puts its finger on the pulse of what so many iranians feel and want to see. The theme of this show identifies very closely with what is going on in many parts of Iranian society, whether your eyes want to see it or ears want to hear it, Or not. So, You are right, even though it is not doing the Job of a serious newscast (SINCE , again so you understand better, It is not its mission to do so) yet at the same time it is using humor to send the message of Dissatisfaction and Uneasiness across.
Yes. Wishful thinking. You said he "corrected himself". He did not, so you were wishful thinking, or perhaps deluding yourself.
Q. Saying "i will clarify this in a minute " is in a way correcting oneself. but i don't mean to tit and tat over this with you. I don't play your school yard games. Fine, whatever.
You think I called myself "roshan fekr" ? Maybe you should read more carefully.
Ahh. Good. A lot of people needed to see that coming from you Just to be sure. Thanks for making that declaration.
Now you are just being ignorant. VOA is an American tax-payer funded service. It has stated values, one of which is to communicate American values. The tag line on VOA literature says "trusted source of news and information since 1945".
Yeah but so what? So does Fox and so does CNN in various shape and forms , all claiming to be the source of The most credible and reliable news and so does virtually every major and minor news outlet in this country. What the hell is your point?
Has it crossed your mind that some of these Tax-payers whoes moeny supports VOA's functions and programms may actually like what they see on this show?
Jon stewart and parazit have the same mission. Jon stewart is "charging" people By selling them products and services his sponsors ask or rather force him to market on his show. DO you Get that Genius jan?

Listen to Part 2 from 9:05.
Later, he refers to the Kronos Quartet and says if that group chose to adopt or jam with an Iranian musician it would be front page news all over the world (meaning iranian media would find it worthy and praise it because it involves the prominant Western group).
This is all very obvious, Mash Ghanbar, how could you have possibly missed it?
Are you one of those people who physically becomes deaf when there is something they don't want to hear?
So much for you "point 1".
That is your specific and particular, propagandizing way of looking at this issue. You are denying the huge popularity of this show among the vast majority both in iran and in the western community.
Wishful thinking on my part?? LOL. Ok!! He said that just the same way any typical iranian who believes in conspiracy theories would say.
Yes. Wishful thinking. You said he "corrected himself". He did not, so you were wishful thinking, or perhaps deluding yourself.
This is not meant to be a serious news program. How a supposedly self-declaring roshan fekr has not GOTTEN this so far, is really amazing.
You think I called myself "roshan fekr" ? Maybe you should read more carefully.
This has nothing to do with what America claims to stand for.
Now you are just being ignorant. VOA is an American tax-payer funded service. It has stated values, one of which is to communicate American values. The tag line on VOA literature says "trusted source of news and information since 1945".
It is like expecting getting fair and balanced views on Jon stewart show.
Jon Stewart isn't charging US tax payers for his show, and has no mission to provide "trusted source of news and information" to anybody.
You get it now?
