Afshin, I know you mean well
by Benyamin on Fri Sep 03, 2010 12:09 AM PDTI don`t know if you have gone to Iran as of late or not but I just want to share something with you and leave the judgment to yourself.
Clearly you have not been raised in a minority family, if you are not a practicing musilm(with all due respect if you are) but certainly you have been raised in a family that have had at least some religious affiliation to islam.
I do travel to Iran every year to visit my parents. I have noticed many people in Iran can actually tell that I live outside Iran and not just for a short time. This reallity is stunning given the fact I still don`t reveal my religion affiliation(due to fear of persecution). and I must add I am very good at it since I have practiced it ever since I have known myself. I might also add, that I wear no piercings or tattoos or certain hairstyle or even wear dress in a way in which it has been described as "western atyle" I also speak farsi "much" better than english and you may notice it from my writing or lack of grammare and yet many people can tell without any problem I don`t live in Iran.
Imagine if you are a minority living in a small community and only one person knows you are not muslim, he or she will make damn sure your life is miserable and that is the truth.
I agree with you that alot of people have suffered under the reign of IRI and I also agree with you that we all have suffered but when you are a minority and you are subjected to this kind of treatment, you feel complitely and utterly hopeless, helpless and feel that you are a second class all the time. This is when if you don`t fear death like some religion minorities do.
GOD BLESS IRAN
Well said Afshin

ashamed
by afshin on Thu Sep 02, 2010 11:39 AM PDTA few things on these videos. First as an Iranian I am ashamed of the government in power in Iran. For all it's done against all Iranians. I'm sure it's no consolation, but the Jews in Iran have a much better life than most Bahaiis there. As far as the damage done to the cemetery there are a few things to consider. Most Iranian Jews have left Iran with only a very small percentage still living there. It's only natural that when a place is abandoned that it fall in to disrepair. There are many Iranian Jewish organizations in the United States and Israel that could fund repairing these facilities including the bath the lady was mentioning. As far as her not being allowed in to a muslim bath, apart from it being ludicrous that such a concept exists (and believe me, i know it does exist), there is nothing stopping her from going to a bath and not declaring her religion. I've been to plenty of public baths and not once has anyone ever questioned by religion or lack thereof. And while watching these videos are heartbreaking, it's important to note that the Iranian government has more muslim blood on its hand than any other faith. This is a criminal despotic regime, period! We as Iranians of all religious, political, and social stripes should work hard to oust this regime and establish a system of government where religion is completely removed from its political lexicon.

by Benyamin on Thu Sep 02, 2010 11:17 AM PDTI don`t know about other cemetries in Iran Muslim or none muslim but I know what is humaniterian what is not. She is a minority that for whatever reason alot of people think She is "un-clean" and therefore life must be harder for her at that age and even worse her sex is a wrong one to begin with in IRI.
Not only she is under more scrutiny by the majority but also the IRI exarcarbate her situation. I am a minority I should know.

by Bavafa on Thu Sep 02, 2010 08:22 AM PDTBeside the fact that IRI is condemnable for all they have done to Iranians, what is it in this video that caused your irk about IRI?
This cemetery look better to me then most typical (Muslim) cemeteries in Iran.

by Benyamin on Thu Sep 02, 2010 06:36 AM PDTI guess this is what they call "ra`fat e eslami"???
I am confused, what is it that muslims claim about islam? These people are first and foremost Iranians and have equal rights with anyone else in Iran. They should be treated just like other Iranians.
IRAN IS FULL OF MINORITIES OF ALL KINDS. IN FACT THE MINORITIES TOGETHER ARE THE MAJORITY IN IRAN. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS DEMOCRACY SO EVERYONE CAN ENJOY THE SAME RIGHTS.
