A farce of legitimacy
by shaw on Wed Sep 15, 2010 07:18 PM PDTGetting a gift from "The Queen" as if theocracy is legitimate doesn't sit well with anti-monarchy IRI? How about monarchists & historians?
To the final note comparing "this man to this man", go ahead. Compare human rights, economic standing, GDP per capita, education, social and cultural freedom such as art, music, entertainment, winemaking, infrastructure, trade, industrial manufacturing, oil refining, airlines, expedition of nuclear energy, currency exchange rate, and employment rate... anything under Iran's skies, relative to the current world. Compare the direction of things then to what the Islamic Republic has done with it since.
Where is that article about Iranians selling their kidneys and the government getting a portion of proceeds for the sale?
Those who see this regime as comparable to Shah's would benefit from receiving a heart or brain transplant, maybe both.
Should I cry, scream, or cut the heads of those who so easily offer that the cylinder might get destroyed or stolen in the regime's custody. Are you so lost as to be entertained by such a possibility, using a tone that it is remotely ACCEPTABLE? Or maybe you will be pleasantly surprised that it does make it back. Woohoo! Maybe they'll claim that is "NOBLE", like letting ONE American hiker (HOSTAGE) return home for $500 million.
A point BBC will never make: how many hostages did Shah take?
The answer: F you BBC.
Kazem are you sure? This MPD fellow
by Hoshang Targol on Wed Sep 15, 2010 01:02 PM PDTseems like a very agreeable guy.
As a matter of fact today [9-15-2010] MPD posted this piece about AN's entire text on Cyrus, and now I can't even find it.
P.S. To MPD, what happened to AN's text on cyrus, can't find it?
IRI is suffering from multiple personality disorder.

One day an Islamist awaiting "Mahdi" and the next day praising the Persian Kingdom. Typical of scared individuals changing their masks to survive, all symptomatic of a pathological illness.
Let us hope the patient will soon die a natural death.

by Arthimis on Wed Sep 15, 2010 12:31 AM PDTAt the end of the day, all the Islamists (An included) have NOTHING even close to Cyrus The Great, Shah -e- Shahaan, Shah e Hakhamaneshi with his Cylinder and all his divine teachings as a true human being... The whole world knows it, They know it very well too, hence with this latest desperate act of connecting their miserable selves to Cyrus!!!
Historically, Persian have always diluted these kinds of Microbes, Thanks to the True and Real Persian teachings of Cyrus, his likes and followers...These I.R. ones have NOTHING to do with Persians and shall be diluted too, with time ...
Soon you will hear
by onlyinamrica on Tue Sep 14, 2010 11:36 AM PDTThat the Cyrus Cylinder is stolen, disappeared or was destroyed in a fire.

Ahmadinejad’s regime and Iran’s culture: Like oil and water

"Iran’s secular culture and heritage is the complete opposite of Islamic teachings. It has become very clear that the two do not mesh, let alone compromise."
..................
"What Iranians have learned — that apparently the so-called “experts” have not — is that when it comes to Iran, one is either a “Nationalist” irrespective of religious/philosophical affiliations or not! The regime knows the majority of Iranians despise it and will not rest until they have brought it down. Its assessment in this regard is correct."
Ahmadieh Naghola
by statira on Tue Sep 14, 2010 08:31 AM PDTHe knows that Iranians in general are very nationalist, he tries to get more popularities this way by praising Cyrus the Great. But comparing Cyrus and his soldiers to Basiji is rediculous.

by mahmoudg on Tue Sep 14, 2010 07:15 AM PDTCompare anything about Islam or his misguided regime to that great law giver. Mohamad, in a million years could not reach the status of Cyrus. Just read what Albert Pike had praised about Cyrus and not one mention on that Arab. BTW dirty Arabs are only those of the Arabian Peninsula or what we know today as Saudi Arabia. The rest of the MidEast, like us, have been conquered at times, and our/their blood has been infested with that of the Arabs. Moreover, what is that Arab "Lachanteh" or cloth he puts around the neck of that soldier????

And yes, the Cyrus Cylinder will cause much political drama during the next four months. And even after: Don't count out the possibility that it may not be returned to the British Museum.
