A James Bond movie without James Bond

by Quebeqi on

I was amazed how so many James Bond clichés were used such as the Gieger watch (Thunderball), the bad guy's yatch (Thunderball again) and the wresling girls (From Russia With Love). And did I see Goldfinger's Odd Job in this movie? Too bad he did not use his famous boiler hat. However the dialog was not so good and most of the film would had been boring if there were not the Iranian part which was filled with action. And Tehran looked so modern et so stylish, pretty much like the set of a Madmen episode. I hope a remake of that movie will be done somedays...with Toutou the Poodle, of course. :)

Fleming I believe served as an agent in Persia and Afghanistan in his youth working in the MI6 the British Secret Services which explains some of his insights on Iran in writing the script to this movie commissioned by the United Nations.
