It is about time we talked
by benross on Fri Oct 01, 2010 02:44 PM PDTIt is about time we talked about the Left in Iran without cloak and dagger.
Oh they can keep the cloak and dagger. That was the fun part of it. But they won't be left. Period.

I got an idea! How about we transfer the rest of Islamists like AN and Khamenei to London too? And why wait to die? Transfer them right now :-) Save Iran and give them a nice home.
I found the discussion quite interesting

benross, if you haven't read Shazdeh Ehtejab, you should be able
by Hoshang Targol on Thu Sep 30, 2010 06:03 AM PDTto find your "Feudal" right there. If you have read it before, read it again, seems you've forgotten it.
To find "serfs" look no further than Mazadak up to Babieh.
As for proletariate recall the Oil Strike of 1979, and all the May First rallies in Iranian cities for the past five years, all celebrations done under conditions of extreme repression and consequences:you also might want to check on bus drivers, sugar cane workers,....
To find the "Right" wing, perhaps a look in the mirror should do.
I leave the "Left" to your imagination.
So, you see we have, and have had all the elements in Iran. Very few have been able to put it together and make sense of it all.

by Dirty Angel on Thu Sep 30, 2010 04:50 AM PDTso there was this bourgoisie, but no serfs. Iran is just so special!
Btw what's with these alame haparoot people? There are Lefties who've had one eye gauged out by one dictator and the other by the current thugs.Nice country.
Btw, Dirty Angel, you know BBC Persian is beyond a bad joke, why do you listen to the drivel?

When you don't find feudal,
by benross on Wed Sep 29, 2010 04:42 PM PDTWhen you don't find feudal, you don't find serfs, you don't find proletariat and you don't even find 'right', you can not be 'left'. You are a bunch of lost souls between grievance of the colonialism and fascination with modernity, superficially shaped by the struggle of the last century, the cold war. You are not 'left'. You are nobody... and it shows.

Dear GS - thanx fot the great thread - This guy Rezaii is the epidemy of clueless leftists in Iran. I loved what mr. Atabaki said about how in 1357 our left totally abandoned fundamental values of what is supposed to be LEFT.
On " The Making of the English Working Class," see
by Hoshang Targol on Wed Sep 29, 2010 11:04 AM PDTE.P. Thomson. The history of English working class is actually a bit older than even Marxism, practically the first in the industrial world. Eric Hobsbawn is also another great source. Come to think of it, actually all English Marxist Historians(way too many to name in here) are just an amazing amalgam of Historians.

The working class in Iran should feel safe and sound now, with such individuals as you mentioned, how could it go wrong?
