by Reality-Bites on Thu Sep 09, 2010 07:28 AM PDTLets get this straight, although no one knows exactly how many Iranians have been murdered at the hands of the IRI over the past 30 years, because IRI does its utmost to keep its crimes secret and hidden away, it is likely to be far more than the number of ordinary Palestinians deliberately murdered by Israel in the same period.
Furthermore, unlike the fact that many Israelis have also been killed by Palestinians, hardly any IRI officials have suffered this fate the at the hands of ordinary Iranians, who have endured IRI's systematic persecution and reign of terror.
If anything, IRI's actions are more contemptible Israel's, since Israel at least treats its own people decently and its misdeeds (which undoubtedly deserve condemnation) have been committed in a war/conflict situation against an external enemy (i.e. the Palestinian extremists, who are also not exactly blameless themselves), not against its own citizens. The IRI intimidates, threatens, harasses, robs, imprisons, tortures and even murders its own citizens, simply for asking for freedom, democracy, Human Rights or even for simply having different beliefs.
And there is nothing unfounded about these appalling acts committed by the vile regime you are defending here.
Mr. Shajareh is right
by asadabad on Thu Sep 09, 2010 01:03 AM PDTHe should not comment on unfounded claims.
How dare the interviewer compare Iran to Israel. Have there been 120+ UN Resolutions condemning the IRI for its human rights records (I am counting the UN resolutions vetoed by US) or an "Iranian Goldstone Report" that documents IRI human rights abuses from the 2009 election aftermath? I don't think so! He should keep quiet.

Benyamin, one correction
by Reality-Bites on Tue Sep 07, 2010 03:45 PM PDTThe guy did answer, and his answer was "I don't know what you are talking about", before walking away with a smirk on his face, when the reporter asked him about the treatment of the peaceful demonstrators in Iran.
So either this "Chairman of Islamic Human Rights Commission in London" has been away on Mars for the past few years (maybe he was he was the Chairman of Islamic HRC there too) or he was not being, shall we say, entirely truthful in his answer.
Character assassination?
by Benyamin on Tue Sep 07, 2010 03:28 PM PDTI don`t know about that nor have any idea how this is a case of stalking?
But I know people identify themselves through their interests, hobbies. jobs or affiliation.
This guy is clearly a supporter of Palestine and up to that moment that is how he should have been judged, but the way he answered the question made it clear that he is indeed connected to the IRI.
he could be a good guy with some affiliations to the IRI and he could be a bad guy with some affiliations to the IRI at any rate he can look away from truth and obvious question by which his action makes him a fair target for "character assassination"
If one can see the pain and suffering of Palestinian people(which is fair), then one should see all suffering and pain which human indure across the globe. if you pick and choose the suffereing then you are motivated by other means and that makes one "less" sincere and truthful as a result that person`s character is "questionable".
We all saw in this clip this guy is questionable. But he just didn`t answer.

say no to character assassinations!
by Shirin Saeidi on Tue Sep 07, 2010 11:57 AM PDTIt’s unfortunate that this form of character assassination is allowed on this otherwise useful site. Sadly, going after people on an individual and private basis has become all to come for our elite and non-elite communities. To be honest, I find it to be slightly psychotic behaviour.
Does it even matter what the truth is anymore for us as Iranians in the Diaspora? It seems that all we care about is an “othering” of one another.
