For Farsi software, I use on-line keyboard of gate2home.com

by MM on

at //www.gate2home.com/?language=fa

It has all the features that you would need to write in Farsi.  Just click the buttons of the keyboard (including shift control to write "tashdeed", and other signs/logos), CTRL A to choose, CTRL C to copy and take it elsewhere.

I have even edited paragraphs that were garbbled by taking it into this site and it does wonders.  It is also very compatible with Iranian.com as well.

Majid's link is the most sophisticated one. But for a quick Farsi text, Google or Behnevis are fine. Just make sure that you edit your Farsi, otherwise it sounds like Farsi with a thick Armenian accent!

by Anonymouse on

Use behnevis.com type in your finglish and farsi will appear in the below box.  You'll have to take your cursor to the wrong spelled word and make the adjustment if you want.  Below is a copy and paste of your finglish in behnevis.com

Bavafa jan, try

//www.google.ca/transliterate/persian

You type in finglishi and words become Farsi when you press the space bar. Very convenient. You can also correct typos by using the right mouse boutton on words which are misspeled !

I agree with hamsade, movies were the same Take porn for example

by Anonymouse on

In the 70s when porn first came out, X-rated movies were on big screens and private parts were that much bigger on the screen!  Perhaps Faramarz jaan can write a blog about his first experience with porn on the big screen after landing in America as a student!

Now porn is on i-pod and free on internet and no longer the noslatgia that it once was.  Many of the hollywood movies of 70s were that much different than this one.

As hamsade says even today's movies are cheezy and just like they award Oscars every year, they also award Razzies.  Sandra Bullock and Hale Barry were both recipients of an Oscar and Razzie in the same year!

Everything is sacred

hamsade ghadimi

datis, immortal guard

by hamsade ghadimi on

datis, vossoughi was the james dean of iranian cinema.  he was a good looking, brooding rebel.  in fact, he always portrayed characters with a lot of pent-up emotions.

ig, the movies that were made back then were formulatic as they are now (the movies you see in iran today are not the ones that are exported).  the artsy movies were not shown in multiple cinemas as they are not now.  pretty much like everywhere.  even movies made in the 1980s or 1990s in the u.s. that were hits may seem silly now.  these movies merely serve as nostalgia and watching cultural trends of past on film and not for their masterful story-telling or techniques.  at any rate, bv had probably the most memorable roles and movies in iranian film industry (toghi, dash akol, soote dalan, reza motori, mamal amrikaee, gavaznha, tangsir,...).

tahgord, as usual, you have no clue what you're talking about.

Immortal Guard

Cultural Fast Food!

by Immortal Guard on

As long as consumption is moderate it is okay otherwise might lead to cultural and psychological diseases!

Immortal Guard

Cigarette Advertisement.....

by Immortal Guard on

They are both smoking cigarettes!

Did the Iranians actors like their American counterparts also do sublime advertisements for cigarettes in movies?

Also during Shah's time the Iranian cinema was mostly sleaze. Although it must have had its appeal to the  "Mardomeh koocheh o bazzar" it did not do much to elevate the general Iranian culture. It only sleazed it!

These movies more or else followed a certain algorithm like it exists for most Hollywood movies (e.g. the police chief is almost always black etc.)

There seems to have existed a common thread in various aspects of the Iranian cultural policy during the later years of Shah's time!
