Recent worked added to New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art's permanent collection

Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian joins ArtAsiaPacific for an afternoon at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, where her recent work, Flight of the Dolphin (2010), was recently added to the permanent collection. While viewing this beautiful mirrored mosaic, Farmanfarmain recalls her personal history and reflects upon her use of geometric form and relationship to traditional Iranian craft.

   The artist has done much to bring the traditional Iranian mirror medium into the modern art scene. 

See Lighting for Neda  in memory of her late husband.

IC member Zara Houshmand coauthored Monir Farmanfarmaian's autobiograpy, A Mirror Garden. Published by Random House four years ago.

Fun lady to get to know in addition to being a great artist. I like what she says as her last sentence in this video "who stole all these arts from Iran, I did not know that museums can even afford it?"

Monir was my Persian classic dress designer in iran long time ago. Her designs were gorgeous,

I still have some dresses that I am wearing now:-)
