by fussygorilla on Fri Apr 08, 2011 10:31 PM PDTI do visit Iran every year and agree that the older generation women are obese but the young ones are absolutely gorgeous with nice bodies, and they take care of it, and are not obese. Obese children is, however, a major problem as I see most children are not just fat but in fact OBESE and their mothers feed them all the American type junk foods like chips, pizza, and hamburger, which I also remind them of its dangers. This is the American "culture" like the rest of it, and you guys want to copy!
As an elderly woman, I do tell the young women how beautiful they are. And, they are the masters of using cosmetics especially on the eyes. Well, the face is the only part they can show and so they put most effort to make it attractive and they are.

When was the last time you were in Iran "Jaleho?"
by Onlyiran on Fri Apr 08, 2011 07:48 PM PDTAO is right. Obesity is becoming an issue in Iran. I see it every time I go there. The problem is that our food is high in carbs, people are eating more fast food, every family has two cars and a dozen cell phones (so they're walking less and less), kids are stuck in front of TV with video games, etc. The same problems that are in the West. And yes, Americans and Europeans are fat too. It's a global problem. Now, I know that your type is really not a big fan of pesky little things like "facts", but the BBC had a piece on Iran and obesity some time ago that I think you should read:
//news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4563776.stm
It is good to see a culture of excercise being introduced to the country. Hopefully more people will participate.
Nice to see them caring
by Khebedin on Fri Apr 08, 2011 07:24 PM PDTNice to see them caring about their health. But they should demand the government to do something about the pollution. The government of Teharn has badly failed in creating a healthy and liveable city.

Not shot
by Medulla Oblongata on Fri Apr 08, 2011 01:01 PM PDTIn response to AO, to be shot is OTT, needs to be akhteh ( castrated!),
Joking aside, very groovy music, anyone knows the name of the singer or the song?
Miss Tehran
by Joe L. on Fri Apr 08, 2011 11:54 AM PDTcan't wait to visit again soon, maybe sept. or aug. we'll see.
I like it - There is a big obesity problem in Iran
by Anonymous Observer on Fri Apr 08, 2011 11:35 AM PDTmore power to these ladies for excercising...although I do have to say that the instructor is "naa mahram," and he, therefore, needs to be shot!
I'm also glad to see that the city is enforcing the "no walking on grass" rules (as is apparent from the videographer's comment). It's good to see attention is being paid to the environment.
PS- is that Turkish music?!!!
