Ecucation/Information...
by Raoul1955 on Fri Aug 26, 2011 11:05 AM PDTHumans usually form their opinions based on information gathered from their environment, media, and other humans. It is the common knowledge that muslims are a violent group of people due to their belief system. It is also true that there are two nations on the planet with their governments officially executing those females who wish to exercise free will, i.e., behave as their counterparts in the Western societies. We also know that some muslim folks who were raised in the West do kill their females to protect what is commonly known as the 'family honor.' The latter group has never been under the governance of any Middle Eastern regime, yet they behave just like their counterparts in those parts of the world.
The scenario depicted in the above video may very well be part of a movie, or a criminal act, as we have no idea what instigated the act of stabbing. It could have also been a criminal who perpetrated the act, or a muslim brother, father, uncle, etc.
Now about being informed or educated which applies to all and not just to Raoul1955:
Being formally educated or informed has nothing to do with one's belief system. Consider the following:
1) Tens of millions of humans with terminal degrees in various fields, and hundreds of millions with graduate degrees still believe that there is a male deity [God in English] that created this universe. That is a belief and has nothing to do with one’s education, or the governing regime.
2) Some of those mentioned above actually believe in a male deity who happens to be a real estate broker, and who 'promised' his chosen folks a piece of barren land. How often do you hear educated people scoff at such a weak deity? If he were that powerful and existed outside 'his' worshippers minds, then he would have given his 'chosen' people an entire planet, or even an entire solar system to enjoy as 'his chosen people.'
3) Many folks with terminal or graduate degrees in all fields do consider a fictional gay man as their savior. Can education [or flow of information] change their belief system? So far it hasn't.
4) Hundreds of millions of educated folks on the planet follow the path of a violent man who had sexual interests in little girls, and heard voices,... Neither education, nor living in free societies outside the Middle East has changed such people’s belief system!
5) Tens of millions of educated humans still believe in a 19th Century definition of 'race.' Although science indicates that ALL humans are in fact members of the same race. There are genetic variations which make for a wonderful diversity among us, but the genome is the same.
Neither education, nor the free flow of information has changed these folks belief systems.
Conclusion:
Neither formal education, nor the dissemination of factual information can change a person's belief system. The real change is always initiated from within and not from without, although the external 'stimuli' can play a role in such a growth.
Openning blind spots...
by Abarmard on Fri Aug 26, 2011 04:46 AM PDT-"Muslim men are known to kill women just for the way they dress!"-"That country is a toilet."
wow, speechless.Rest who blame this act on government are somewhat better than those two above, because they might assume the relation of these crimes to education or lack of cultural teachings promoted by a system! At least those are not hateful to a race or a nation of people!!!Horrible act was done here, although I couldn't see anything and don't know anything about it. Just keep in mind that Tehran is a metropolitan city with over 12 million people from many parts, languages, cultures, and backgrounds. Hope you consider this next time you see something similar to this and try to educate Raoul1955 rather than encourage his blind spot.

Women have their cell phones on and talking when walking alone at night here.
Where is the outrage?
Aggression against women is present every where including in Iran. It's regetful and outrageous no matter where it happens.
