مصدق مانند بسیاری از مردم ایران، خصوصاً طبقه‌ی اشراف از لحاظ نظری مسلمان بود. وی در نطق خود در مجلس در سال 1304 گفت: «در حضور همه‌ی آقایان بنده شهادت خودم رامی گویم (اشهد ان لا اله الا الله ـ اشهد انَّ محمداً رسول الله ـ اشهد انَّ علیاً ولی الله) من شخصی بودم مسلمان و...»
مصدق از لحاظ نظری معتقد بوده است که به دلیل برتری اسلام، مسلمانان حقّ سلطه‌پذیری را ندارند. وی در مخالفت با وزارت وثوق‌الدوله در جلسه‌ی 29 شهریور 1305 در نقد خیانت (قرارداد 1919 مطابق با 1298ه .ش) وثوق‌الدوله چنین استدلال کرد: «قرارداد یعنی تسلط دولت مسیحی بر دولت مسلمان و به زیان وطن‌پرستی، اسارت ملت ایران. عقیده‌ی ما مسلمین این است که حضرت رسول اکرم و پیغمبر خاتم(ص) پاد شاه اسلام است و چون ایران مسلمان است، لذا ] بر [ سلطان ایران و بر هر ایرانی دیانتمندی و هر مسلمان شرافتمندی فرض است که در اجرای فرموده‌ی پیامبر خدا که می‌فرماید: الاسلام یعلوا و لا یُعلی' علیه از وطن خود دفاع کند. اگر فاتح شد، عالم دیانت و ایرانیت را روحی تازه دمیده و چنانچه مغلوب و مقتول شد، در راه خدا شربت شهادت را چشید...»
مصدق در ردّ صلاحیت فروغی برای وزارت جنگ در کابینه‌ی مستوفی نیز استدلالی به همین مضمون نمود. مصدق مدعی بود که فروغی نامه‌ای محرمانه به سفارت شوروی نوشته و نوعی کاپیتولاسیون به شوروی واگذار نموده است.
مصدق در استدلال بر غیرقانونی بودن واگذاری چنین اختیاری به دولت شوروی گفت: «هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند اسلام را با غیراسلام در شرایط غیر متساوی بگذارد. به این معنا که اگر مسلمی در روسیه خلاف نمود، روس‌ها او را به دار زنند؛ ولی اگر یک روسی در ایران عملی مخالف قانون اسلام نمود، محاکم وزارت خارجه در دفتر خود یادداشت نموده و او را به روس‌ها که به قانون شرع عقیده ندارند، تسلیم کنند که در روسیه هر طور خواستند رفتار نمایند؛ چون ما نمی‌خواهیم فرمایش رسول خدا را اجرا نماییم که می‌فرماید: الاسلام یعلواو لا یُعلی' علیه...»

P.S. Dear MM, Ayatollah literaly means "sign of god." It's an actually quite appropriate title considering the kind of god these beasts represent!

He is an all time hero of the Iranian nation and always will be remembered as a true human being. He will never be forgotten for waht he did and what he was.
