by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Sep 01, 2011 02:40 PM PDTThank you Faramarz; yes I may be obnoxious :-) but I am pretty direct person. If I did flag someone I will admit it and give the reason why.
Lors do have fair skin and complexion. Most Lors in my family have blue or green eyes. As well as relatively light skin. However they do not look "German" on Nordic :-) They look distinctly Iranian.

I can see that there have been some good jokes that I have missed. What is wrong with some people? If you don't like joke, go read something else for god's sake.
Faramarz,
Please repost in Monda's joke blog.
Ghalam-doon and VPK,
I am not sure about this but I think these areas were populated by Ilamites who must be the common ancestors of the Lors. We know that an important centre of the Achamanid empire was in Susa (Shush), so the Lors must also be decedents of the Aryan immigrants. Fair skin and fair hair is very common in Lors.

by Faramarz on Thu Sep 01, 2011 12:09 PM PDTYou don't need to explain yourself or say that it wasn't you. You are forthcoming with your opinions, right or wrong, and that's how it out to be.
But the people who flag other people should have the courage to say, "I find your comment/ blog offensive for the following reasons and I would like to ask the Admin to remove it." And then let people defend themselves. This middle of the night removal flies in the face of what we are trying to accomplish here.
The way Souri dealt with BoosBoos and those of us who supported her stand is a great example of how these issues should be resolved. Souri is probably upset now and hasn't commented for a day, and that's a loss for the rest of us.
An anonymous flagger is coward in my book.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Sep 01, 2011 11:52 AM PDTIt was not me real honest ! I did not flag anyone's posts on this blog.
Dear Ghalam-Doon
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Sep 01, 2011 11:47 AM PDTThere is no doubt there were people living in Iran before the Aryans. They were very advanced at least based on Shahnameh and other ancient texts. The pre-Aryans taught the Aryans writing.
However at this point Lurs are Iranians and have a good deal of Aryan mixed in. I don't know if they were "aboriginal" it sounds very demeaning. I would hate to use a word like that to describe about 1/4 of my family :-)
No matter: right now Luri sounds to me a lot like Persian with an accent. In fact I have also been learning Kurdish using some software. That does not sound all that far from Persian also. They all seem rooted in old Persian and Pahlavi.
VPK...
by ghalam-doon on Thu Sep 01, 2011 11:32 AM PDTI'm not quite sure if we can really trust Wikipedia, but in the same document, it refers to Lurs as aboriginal Persians means that they were the original occupants of the Iranian Plateau before the invasion. We cannot assume that no one was living in the Iranian Plateau before the Aryans arrived.
Dear GR, I take your word
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Sep 01, 2011 11:27 AM PDTIf it got really ugly, then it is good that it got deleted.
I appreciate Ghormed Sabzi finding this video.
Anahid,
by G. Rahmanian on Thu Sep 01, 2011 11:18 AM PDTI don't think you would want to know. It was as ugly as it could get. And it's good our comments were deleted, although mine was a reference to Faramarz's jokes being flagged. Anyhow, trust me, it's good you guys missed it.
This morning I started
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:54 AM PDTmy facebook with reading a Lori joke :
"Few lors are in elevator and it breaks down. The guy in charge of repair of elevators gets on and fixes the elevator. One of the Lors, tells him, "mamnoon, aghaye ranande".
What de...Even my commnet was removed
by Bavafa on Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:49 AM PDTI guess since I found them helle funny!!!
Guilty by association I suppose, but I like this association so the price is worth it.

Dear GR
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:49 AM PDTthe comments that I saw were some funny Lori jokes and even funnier lawyer jokes by Faramarz. I did not see any offensive comment. You are correct, I must have missed the comment that you are referring to. Now, you make me curious.
I am adding
by Soosan Khanoom on Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:46 AM PDTI am adding , Lurs and Lawyers , to the sacred names on the IC's spiritual list ..
lol
Anahid,
by G. Rahmanian on Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:44 AM PDTSo, you must've missed the comment I'm referring to. That is when finally the admin decided to delete some of the comments.
GR, things did not get ugly
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:21 AM PDTJokes were funny and at first when I saw them deleted, I was kind of upset, thinking that how IC that has all kinds of things written on it, cannot stomach few jokes. However, this morning when I shared the video on facebook, I was OK that jokes were gone. You know that there are Iranians who rather than fight IRI, choose the easy fights like fight against ethnic jokes. Let them rejoice that their "movement' was successful in deleting few jokes here.
Arabic Loan Words!
by G. Rahmanian on Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:20 AM PDTAlthough some loan words may sound Arabic, they may or may not even be Arabic in origin. Eftaar(Iftaar), Sadr or Ta' refeh are of Latin roots. Also "gheri" in "Showlaar Gheri" has extreme similarity to the word, "Gyrate" and it may not be Petaian or Lori. "Saayeh" and "Shade" are also similar.
Oh, The Jokes!
by G. Rahmanian on Thu Sep 01, 2011 09:38 AM PDTSomeone must've thought one of us was a Jew. A Bakhtiatiari Jew conspiring to damage the image of the brave Bakhtiaris! Anyhow, things got a bit ugly and JJ, I guess, decided to get rid of some comments.

Faramarz, your jokes were super funny
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Sep 01, 2011 08:32 AM PDTat least those who read them, enjoyed them.
Who Flagged My Jokes?
by Faramarz on Thu Sep 01, 2011 08:06 AM PDTIt took me a while to come up with all those good Lori and Lawyeri jokes and they are all gone now. Man!
To whomever that flagged the jokes, I say, "You are a bore and no fun. Actually you are quite "Yobs" and in need of some pears or prune juice and I hope that your next date looks like Maryam Rajavi!"
Dear VPK, as far as Luri language being close to Persian
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Sep 01, 2011 05:52 AM PDTWhen my Brujerdi relatives talk Luri, it seems that it is more of an accent than a language. However. we have some Khorramabadi friends and when they talk, I uderstand much less. So I believe that some Lurs have more of a language and some speak mostly Farsi with a Luri accent and they just have limited number of Luri words that they use in their speech. This is probably also related to the city the Luri person is from and degree of their integration with other parts of Iran.
I googled the name of this poem and found out that there was a jashnvareh Sher few days ago for all Lur poets and that is where he recited this poem.
One more thing
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Sep 01, 2011 03:10 AM PDTLurs
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu Sep 01, 2011 02:56 AM PDTI know a lot of Lurs. A large portion of my family are Lurs. As for "Aryans" killing Lurs that is news to me. No one in my family told me about them! I always thought Lurs were Aryan. //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lurs
The Lurs I know consider themselves as much Iranian as any. The Language is very close to Persian with minor variations just as Kurdish. I don't appreciate all the divisiveness. For Luri see: //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luri_language
لر چه داره؟ تو چه دادیش؟ چه بدهکار تنه؟
divanehWed Aug 31, 2011 05:46 PM PDT

I wish I knew what he is saying
by Soosan Khanoom on Wed Aug 31, 2011 02:58 PM PDTBut judging by the reaction of the crowd, not mention the moderate crowd that is cheering for him, and the passionate way he reads, I am pretty sure his poem is powerful and can bring every group within the society togther and united for the same cause....
I have a feeling that this guy soon may end up near Hilda in jail !!!
He Can Write Poetry, But!
by G. Rahmanian on Wed Aug 31, 2011 02:58 PM PDTI think some in the audience were probably protesting either his criticism of Lors not being real Lors anymore or his contradictory remarks about traditional Lori clothing while wearing a mullah's robe and turban. His could be a powerful poem if one were sympathetic to his ideas or shared his sentiments with regards to upholding Bakhtiari traditional values. The same old theme about the past's allure!
Beutiful Rendition
by ghalam-doon on Wed Aug 31, 2011 02:32 PM PDTLurs were one of the 1st occupants of the Iranian Plateau and I'm sure the Aryan army, like any other invading army, killed many Lurs.
I couldn't make out more than half of the stuff that this guy was talking about, but it seems to me he was complaining about what has happened to his tribe throunghout history.
From Ali to Ardeshir
by Jahanshah Javid on Wed Aug 31, 2011 01:50 PM PDTI never learned my Bakhtiari grandfather's mother tongue but this guy sounded like he covered everyone from Ali to Ardeshir and everything from Karoon to Persepolis!
This proves all the best things started in Lurestan, not Iran :)
