hra-news: Jila Karamzadeh Makvandi is a poet who has been a supporter of the "Mournian Mothers" or "Laleh Park Mothers" movement, comprised of mothers and wives of those who have lost their lives for taking part in street protests in the aftermath of the 2009 elections, and those who lost their lives in the past 31 years.
Karamzadeh was first arrested on 8 February 2010 at her home and transferred to Intelligence Ministry's Ward 209 at Evin Prison, where she spent 34 days before she was released on bail of $50,000. On 9 April 2011, Karamzadeh was sentenced to four years in prison on the charge of "establishing an illegal organization with the intent to act against national security under the name of 'Mourning Mothers.'" In November 2011, an Appeals Court reduced her sentence to two years in prison and two years' suspended imprisonment for five years. On Tuesday, 27 December 2011, Karamzadeh was arrested when she appeared at passport office in Tehran to renew her passport. Karamzadeh was transferred to Evin Prison to begin serving her two-year prison term.

These brave bunch, women specailly, who have paying a hefty price for speaking their mind, deserve ALL of us support thru a sustain campaign for their unconditional freedom.
My hats off to all Iranian mobarez, specially the brave Shir-Zan of Iran.

Free Jila Karamzadeh!
I (we) am (are) writing this to condemn persecution and arrests of Human Rights activists in Iran. Human Rights activists in Iran are being constantly harassed and arrested by the Iranian government authorities. In particular, this letter is written to express my (our) serious concern about the health and well being of Jila Karamzadeh who has been repeatedly arrested and incarcerated. She was arrested last on 27th December of this year.
I (we) condemn the continuous gross attacks on all Human Rights activists in Iran. I (we) demand the immediate and unconditional freedom of Jila Karamzadeh and all other jailed Human Rights activists and call on the Islamic Republic of Iran to respect the right of all Iranians to organize, assemble and freedom of association and expression.
