BBC: The United States has confirmed the sale of nearly $30bn (£19.5bn) of fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. The US will send 84 Boeing F-15 jets to its key Middle Eastern ally, and upgrade 70 existing Saudi F-15s. The agreement is part of a $60bn arms deal covering 10-15 years, approved by the US Congress last year. The military hardware deal comes at a time when Washington is working to counter the influence of the Saudis' bitter regional rival, Iran >>>

Dear Mrx1:
by G. Rahmanian on Sat Dec 31, 2011 05:38 PM PSTI wrote that about those "internationalists" who pretend to be more concerned about the tax payer in Alaska than 70 million Iranians. Those who say the price of gas will hurt poor Americans as a result of sanctions on Iran's oil only because they want to keep the status quo under IR intact. Those who shed crocodile tears for Palestinians, even though they have been told by the Palestinians, they don't need their tears. Those whose globalist views are only pretexts to attack Iranians who oppose the regime. Those who make believe they are for regime change but spend more than 90% of their time attacking opposition forces.
The Professor needs to act the part....
by AMIR1973 on Sat Dec 31, 2011 05:40 PM PST"it creates jobs" by killing other people!!
Clearly, your Islamist political ideology is addling what little is left of your mind. The credibility of your concern over the lives of Iranians is undoubtedly reinforced by your nonstop propagandizing on behalf of the Khomeinists who held high office in the regime that is the Number One killer, rapist, and torturer of Iranian men, women, and children. And to think that you are lecturing others about having "no shame"!
Mr. G. ahmanian how do you do that
by MRX1 on Sat Dec 31, 2011 04:58 PM PSTHow do you not pay taxes and get away with it? we are not GE or carnival cruise lines. If you know away please let us know cause I for one are getting tired of payin so much in taxes.
Verging On The Farcical!
by G. Rahmanian on Sat Dec 31, 2011 04:30 PM PSTIsn't it hypocritical that some people complain about US government's policies and then pay their taxes to the same government? Aren't they concerned only about their own interests! Pay no taxes and start living with a clear conscience.
Crack-pot ideologue, the rhetorician and American exceptionalism
by Mammad on Sat Dec 31, 2011 04:15 PM PSTWhen some of the absolutely worst regimes are propped up by the U.S., it is either "business," or, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," or, "they do it too, but we do it better," or "our dictator is better than yours," or, the funniest of all, "it creates jobs" by killing other people!! That is all!! There is nothing else to it!
The crack-pot ideologue and the rhetorician with zero content are now humanitarians, concerned about Saudi citizens being unemployed!! Oh yeah, look the other way, but if you dare to look, remember "it is business!!"
When there is no shame, nothing surprises me coming from this sort of "commentators."

Think Objectively & Globally!
by G. Rahmanian on Sat Dec 31, 2011 04:03 PM PSTThink Objectively And Globally, and you'll get a different perspective! Perceive US's policies in isolation and you'll get stuck wondering about and attacking those policies. Are Americans acting out of self-interest? Absolutely! Do America's interests coincide with the interests of every country in the world? Hardly! Do we need to agree with what the US does in the rest of the world? That is opening a Pandora's box. Should we, as Iranians be more concerned about our country's interests, first and foremost? Most certainly. It is when we start seeing things in such terms that we can understand where the US government is coming from.
It was the US & UK weapons bought by the Shah....
by AMIR1973 on Sat Dec 31, 2011 02:35 PM PSTThat the IRI used during the Iran-Iraq war. As MRX1 correctly pointed out, it's business, so just get over it. Russia and China sell tens of billions of dollars of their garbage around the world -- the difference being that their goods are of a pathetic quality:

by yolanda on Sat Dec 31, 2011 01:48 PM PSTIt is Middle-East arms race!
IRI wanted to buy passenger planes from Russia. Passenger planes can transport military personnel anyway. IRI has not gotten the planes yet, but got a free drone from US as an early X-mas present.
Right after IRI started the closing of the Strait of Hormuz rehearsal, US signed the arms deals with KSA and UAE.
It's buisness
by MRX1 on Sat Dec 31, 2011 12:58 PM PSTget over it. It keeps thousends of Americans and thousends of saudi's employed that's all. it's not any different than tons of crap your russian and chinese friends sell to IRI.
And, they say...
by Arj on Sat Dec 31, 2011 02:44 PM PST...IRI and USA are enemies! How else could the U.S. have sold $100Bs in arms and military toys to the Arab Sheikhs in the region (+Iraq) without the threat of IRI!!! Not to mention that Israel is off the hook and keeps expanding the settlements!
Mammad be careful and don't criticize USA
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Sat Dec 31, 2011 11:27 AM PSTIf you were to Attack the politics of the USA of miltarization & Imperialism you risk being called a Akhoond Lackey by VPK and Vildemouse. Seriously there are some people here who worship the USA/EU politics for our region, to the point where they don't realize imposing islam onto politics is to help this weapons industry and to create future wars. They even wish to deny USA has any role & desire to help the muslim brotherhood, Al-Quaeda and sharia types. For the love of God, don't criticize the USA or EU.
And a smaller package for UAE as well

Who is destabilizing the Middle East?
by Mammad on Sat Dec 31, 2011 10:19 AM PSTI am sure the President will present selling $30 billion worth of arms to a corrupt, absolute dictatorship, with some of the most reactionary leaders - one of whom refers to the Arab Spring as Arab troubles - as "helping the stability of the Middle East." This is on top of $40 billion that SA has purchased over the past 20 years, and the $20 billion that has been promised to Israel to create "balance."
And this is a nation that will never ever be able to use the weapons in any possible war. Simply recall the 1990-91 Persian Gulf war when SA became a vast military base for the U.S. and its allies to defend a nation that had already purchased tens of billions of $ in weaponary.
This is just a market for U.S. arms industry.
