"Iran and its provocative leadership have proven newsworthy for decades. In the headlines, religious revolutions and hostage crises have given way to populist movements and government crackdowns. To understand where Iran is headed, an appreciation of this nation's turbulent history is necessary. Though his rule was toppled in 1979, the life of Mohammad-Reza Shah Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, still resonates today. Abbas Milani will discuss the role of the Shah in Iran's long history and the lasting effects of his rule today, providing insights into the roots of the Iranian revolution and its nuclear program."

More Freudean Mumbo Jumbo from Mr. Milani
by SOS-FREE-IRAN on Thu Feb 03, 2011 09:42 AM PSTMr. Milani is now characterizing Iranians as people who want dictators. Look he says "they replaced one dictator, the Shah with a greater dictator, Khomeini." What bull crap! Perhaps he is speaking for himself. But why mischaracterize the situation in Iran by blaming the people? Why not put the blame squarely where it belongs? To the commie radicals like himself who implemented the will of the British. Isn't it true that the Brits like barbaric despots to rule their hegemons and colonies? Isn't it true that the biggest sponsor of radical Islami is Britain? Isn't this the pattern we have seen throughout the past 150 years?
Look at the way Mr. Milani raises his hands -- to create smoke and mirrors -just like his granddaddy, Sir Ayatollah Milani and Sir Ayatollah Khomeini. Fabricating and spewing lies, and lies and lies about Iran and Iranians.
What "Dr." ??
by ALLGOTTI on Thu Feb 03, 2011 05:39 AM PSTHe is just saying same stuff that has been said millions of times during the past decades in TV and other media.
What makes him a doctor? In what?

milani repeats false propaganda about the Shah
by SOS-FREE-IRAN on Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:08 AM PSTMilani continues to repeat Mr. Khomeini' and the British Embassy's lies about the Shah of Iran being a despot, dictator. Mr. Milani should inform his audience that he himself was one of those radical terrorists who had joined in with Mr. Khomeini to overthrow the Shah of Iran. That he was hired by MI6/CIA to spy on the Shah of Iran and to disseminate anti-Pahlav libel to his students. That after succeeding in overthrowing our good King, Mr. Milani spent 10 years in Iran working with the radical revolutionires. His comments are biased as usual and wrong and perpetuate the lies about our democratic and benevolent King who even forgave his assassins. Our King was a compassionate, visionary leader who loved Iran with all his life.
Why is this man speaking about him? Mr. Milani should be writing books about his Islamic Luminaries - Mr. Rafsjanjani and Mr. Khatami. Afterall Mr. Millan's grandfather was an Aytollah Milani. What expertise does this man have to separate the lies from the truth when it comes to our King? He doesn't have this judgment because he was shipped out of Iran at the age of 16 on British Airways. Milani returned in 1975 to work with the radicals and communist revolutionaries to overthrow the Monarchy. read his memoirs.
Nixon was such a Great Ally for the Iranian People
by AlexInFlorida on Wed Feb 02, 2011 11:30 PM PSTGood old Nixon Doctrin was based on the Idea that the US Strategc Interest was more important to America than the Big Oil Companies Interest in the Region.
Unfortunately the oil companies later won with the election of Jimmy Carter who ran on a ticket of slander, i.e. lies about the corruption and repression of Shahs team in order to literally take Iran to the Shavers and have the little goat/iran fleeced/raped for oil interest.
This lie of corruption/repression/despotism is still being used by many even milani as if it were a fact, this was old propaganda that worked to fool the masses in 1979, but most people won't buy it today and if give a chance would want the Shah back.
We need another Nixon. Democracy needs to come gradually like in Europe, based on education and freedom first, not overnight like in Africa.
What a bunch of lunatics.
by norooz on Wed Feb 02, 2011 06:34 PM PSTWhat a bunch of lunatics. If you were OK with dictatorship and not having a democracy then, Why are you bitching about dictatorship and not having democracy now? It must be about them bones.
