fussygorilla :Your Knowledge ?
by faryarm on Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:28 PM PSTDear Fussygorilla
Respectfully, according to what you state below:
"My comment on baha'ism was not based on my own religion or any other personal belief. It is based on many years of study and research which I did about Qurratul'ayn, a Babi woman whom Baha'is continue to claim in their propaganda, was a "women's rights champion" in 19th century Iran. Total lie and fabrication."
Sadly you do not even have the correct basic facts!Regretfully here is a glaring proof of our lack of knowledge , with regard to your statement that Shoghi Effendi did not know Persian...
Although he was born in Palestine, as a result of His Great grandfather's exile and imprisonment from Iran to the Ottoman Penal colony in Akka, He grew up to not only master the Persian language and write in the most majestic style, but he went on to learn English and study at Beirut University , then master the english language at Baliol College Oxford, to translate Baha'u'llah's writings. see this for his Persian :
//reference.bahai.org/fa/t/se/TM1/tm1-70.html
and this for his mastery of his English as his second language.
//reference.bahai.org/en/t/se/WOB/wob-41.html
Your knowledge of the Babi and Bahai Faith is entirely based on your reliance on anti Bahai manufactured propoganda.Would you like me to correct you based on both Bahai and Non Bahai historical sources? and to show you the obvious similarities between your opinion and the one promoted by the Islamic Republic?
Would you like to provide one piece of evidence or proof to prove your points? If you could, you would be the first, since in the last 160 years.
Shoghi Effendi
by Martijn Rep on Mon Jan 24, 2011 11:55 AM PSTThere seems to be some confusion about Shoghi Effendi. His native language was Persian, he spoke it often to many Persians (his wife, who was canadian, learned to speak it as well), wrote many letters and prayers in Persian, and translated bahai writings and history from Persian (and Arabic) into English. He made a big effort to master English, partly in Beirut and for less than two years in England. His native country was Palestine and he lived there most of his life (1897-1957). Yes, do read Shoghi Effendi's writings and you'll witness his deep love for Iran, the country of his forefathers and the birthplace of his religion.
With respect

by Babak K. on Mon Jan 24, 2011 09:38 AM PSTFussygorilla
I am sadened to see that so unfairly, you question the royalty of my Bahai brothers and sisters, by using the Islamists propaganda line. And exactly, that is why, I am in love with American democracy, becuase it accepts me as I am, without questioning my religion and my royalty. In every samll or big town in America, there are mosques built and people are allowed to worship whoever they want. America is a christian society, yet they respect so many non-christians as they are. Why you and people like you can not learn from this great American nation and tolerate people's religious believes? Islamists in Iran can not tolerate Gonabadi Drawish, Soni muslims (constantly their belives are assulted), New-Chritians. Islamist regime could not respect even Ayatolah Montazery and others. My Bahai brothers and sisters are my fellow Iranians, and that is all matters to me, plus nobody is better than them and they are not better than somebody else. Only people with Sharaf and Vojdan should matter to all of us.

Fussygorilla: I can only apologize for ...
by reader1 on Mon Jan 24, 2011 08:55 AM PST... my hasty assumption that your judgment was based on or driven by your own religious belief. I am not equipped with the knowledge or time to make a judgment one way or the other but my concern is that the result of your research work may be misused by some to prejudice against our Baha’ii “hamvatans”. I know it sounds so cliché and rather patronizing but I tend to judge people by the strength of their character and their individuality and not by their religion, background or race.

My reply
by fussygorilla on Sun Jan 23, 2011 10:57 PM PSTto Reader 1 and Babak and others: firstly, it is not polite to ask a person what religion they believe in but since I have none, I won't hesitate to state it. My comment on baha'ism was not based on my own religion or any other personal belief. It is based on many years of study and research which I did about Qurratul'ayn, a Babi woman whom Baha'is continue to claim in their propaganda, was a "women's rights champion" in 19th century Iran. Total lie and fabrication.
As to Babak, just read Shoghi Effendi's writings (instead of accepting the falsepropaganda)and you will find that he had absolutely no sense of loyalty to his nation, Iran. In fact, he was anti-Iran who was supported and financed by the British. He never spoke Persian, was married to an english woman, lived all his life in England. I could write an essay on this but won't. I am not surprised, therefore, that the Iranian regime is suspicious of the Baha'is in Iran being British spies(true or not, Idon't have a way of knowing).
Bahai:"human race & unity...." isn't that the Persian culture?
by Jonny Dollar on Sun Jan 23, 2011 08:37 PM PSTBani Adam Azaayeh yek digarand keh dar afarinesh zeh yek goharan. I didn't know that the essence of being persian is called bahaii!! What am I missing? So, are all iranians who follow their persian culture even though they are moslems, are bahaii?
question: for the same reasoning as to why iranians shouldn't be moslem because we are not arabs, then why should other nationalities convert to bahaii which is persian, when they are not?

I am proud of all my Bahai
by Babak K. on Sun Jan 23, 2011 07:50 PM PSTI am proud of all my Bahai brothers and sisters. They impress me very much. They have so much to offer, and we can learn so much from them. From what I have read, early Bahai movement was very progressive force. I wish that they become stronger and stronger so that they can influence other religious establishments to respect the rights of their followers. I think their presence and their popularity can be a positive force in any society. I can not understand why so many people are afraid of them. Unfortunetly, a lot of ignorant people are threatend by Bahai's: I really think that Iranian government and other governments in the other muslim countries are aware that, if Bahai's are allowed to practice their faith freely, then they may become highly popular with the youth of these countries. Their presence and existence can humble any muslim establishemnt and this can be good for our struggle for democracy and human rights.

people try to
by iamfine on Sun Jan 23, 2011 01:09 PM PSTThese days average people try to stay away from religion and keep it to them self. But our Baha'i friend keep trying to promote their faith and push very hard to convert. I have a feeling that each Bahai that converts will get some kind of bonus from his master. The Reader1 is correct in his comment “I just wish they stop trying to convert me to their religion!”.
BTW - Why was he speaking in English. They were both Iranians
FussyGorilla: My criticism extends to all religions ...
by reader1 on Sun Jan 23, 2011 10:44 AM PSTWould you care to tell us which religion you belong too? Are you religiously enlightened? My criticism of the missionary aspect of the Bahaii faith extends to all religions including my own parent’s religion. Seeing one as the “citizen of the world” is a notion I dearly subscribe to but as I said, I am proudly religious blind.
Baha'i faith
by fussygorilla on Sun Jan 23, 2011 10:05 AM PSTis a cult born out of Babi movement by an Iranian Shi'i cleric who named himself the Bab. Later, the British, in their customary imperialist policies, adopted and supported his successor Bahaullah in order to pursue divide and rule in Iran. Contemporary Baha'is are all missionaries by the order of their leaders who are in Haifa(Israel). Their entire religious doctrine is fabricated and shaped as a "modern world view" in order to appeal to the ignorant and those who are disenchanted with their own religion (christians).
Baha'is have absolutely no loyalty to the countries they are citizens of since the creed tells them to be the "citizens of the world". Their propaganda machine is very similar to that of the zionists; very extensive as compared to their numbers ( a few years back in Chicago which is one of their headquarters with a large library), was about 300 members.
Oh YUCK OFF!
by Dirty Angel on Sun Jan 23, 2011 09:35 AM PSTNot going to watch this. Sure, all I need is another message from god almighty and just to prop up the economy, by ending up in anger-management therapy, the other religion, just to cope with all the vociferous lunatics, who've found all the answers.
Oh and to all religious loons, please stop praying for my soul. It's creepy! Are you all reinacting The Omen or something?

Those of us who are proudly religious blind ...
by reader1 on Sun Jan 23, 2011 09:09 AM PST... and see Baha’ism as merely a school of thought originated in Iran would have liked a word said on the origin and cultural heritage of these lovely people. I appreciate that this is a clip on promoting pioneering or missionary work among ordinary Baha’is but I am not sure it would do them any good in promoting their religion – the worse thing they can do is to try emulating the Jehovah's witnesses way of promoting a religion. The other day a colleague from work rushed excitedly to my office to tell me that a lovely Iranian couple moved into their neighbourhood and she had already invited them in for dinner - asking advice on what to cook for dinner! A few days later when I asked her about her neighbours, she said “I just wish they stop trying to convert me to their religion!”.
Ps. Loved the music.
