Wikipedia: Dariush Homayoon (27 September 1928 - 29 January 2011) was an Iranian journalist, author, intellectual, and politician. He was a former Minister of Information and Tourism in the cabinet of Jamshid Amouzegar, founder of the daily newspaper Ayandegan, and a former high-ranking member of the Rastakhiz party. In exile he became one of the founders of the Constitutionalist Party of Iran. He was famous for his analytical writings and largely impartial assessment of history. His outspoken manner, criticizing the Islamic Republic with harsh tones, but also directing his criticism at the Pahlavi policies, has earned him respect of many, though also made him many enemies. He was one of the most influential Iranian opposition leaders in exile >>> ... Visit www.d-homayoun.net

by Mola Nasredeen on Sun Jan 30, 2011 03:51 PM PSTIranians who overthrew the dictatorial regime of Shah are concerned (Not Israeli lobby of course), Mr Homayoun was the last minister of Information and responsible for the suppression of Iranian freedom fighters during uprising and was hated universally by them. I already posted the link when he talked about declaring state of seige in Isfahan, go and watch if you speak Farsi/Perian.
You can't fool us.
Ignorance is bliss 3 & last
by Fred on Sun Jan 30, 2011 03:25 PM PSTNot only the late Homayoun was not overseeing the Savak, or was the last Minister of Information, as the commenter contends, the cabinet of the late Bakhtiar was not “a transition cabinet.” Even if it was, its Minister of Information and tourism would be the last one before the Islamist Rapists’ takeover.
However, ignorance is bliss, and the commenter preference to be blissful at all times is his inalienable right, enjoy.

by Mola Nasredeen on Sun Jan 30, 2011 03:02 PM PSTThe last and only rapist President of any country who was convicted for being a serial rapist was the president of Israel.
2. Bakhtiars's cabinet was a transition cabinet and not a real cabinet so Mr Homayoun was the last Real Minister of Information of dictatorial regime of Shah.
3. I can see the Israeli lobby is trying to get even closer to monarchists. It has become obvious since your team was exposed for being an Israeli mouthpiece here and the recent events in Egypt.
Note: Forget about Iran, what are going to do with the Egyptian situation? Start writing about how a great a man Mobarak was.
PS, S5555, I don't know, but since you've said you're a Zionist Jew then you should refer to your rabbi and Hazrate Moosa.
Ignorance is bliss 2
by Fred on Sun Jan 30, 2011 02:31 PM PSTNot only the late Daryoush Homayoun did not, as the commenter contented, “oversee the activities of SAVAK the notorious secret service responsible for imprisonment, torture and death of many Iranian freedom fighters among other things”, technically speaking, he also was not “the last Minister of Information in Iran.”
Before the beautification program of the Islamist Rapists, Mr. Cyrus Amouzagar was the last person in charge of the Ministry of Information and Tourism in the late Shapour Bakhtiar’s cabinet.
However, ignorance is bliss and if the commenter does not wish to differentiate between the Ministry of Information and Tourism with the current Islamist Rapists’ Intelligence Ministry, he should keep doing so and not let fact hinder his reality.

by Simorgh5555 on Sun Jan 30, 2011 02:23 PM PSTThank you for your answer. 1 down 2 to go. Thank you Hazrate Shotor according to Ayhatollah Khomeini I can violate you sexually provided I don't eat your meat and burn your corpse afterwards.
Do you condone sex with nine year olds? What do you think of the Prophet Mohammed having sexual intercourse with nine year old Ayesha?

by Simorgh5555 on Sun Jan 30, 2011 01:57 PM PSTDream On. Nothing is going to happen in Egypt. Mobarak will still be there because the alternative Islamic scum brotherhood would wreck Egypt as it did in Iran.
You never answered my questions:
Is sex with young girls at the age of nine appropriate for an adult?
Is sex with sheep and goats halal?
If there was an earthquake and I landed on my aunt do you think it is right that I can have sexual intercourse with her?
Please tell me whether you agree with the late Ayhhatollah Khomeini
Ignorance is not a bliss!
by Mola Nasredeen on Sun Jan 30, 2011 01:51 PM PSTSpecially when it's pushed by the Israeli Lobby under the name of FredCo on this Iranian website.
Stop making a hero out of a sellout who was the last Minister of Information in Iran.
Isn't he the same Shah's lacky who annonced state of siege against the protesters in Isfahan and called them KharabKar (terrorist) in his Iranian TV appearance? //www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQGZzQ5xe84
Who the hell cares if he was the publisher of a newspaper in Iran? So what? Where was he when the real Iranian patriots were jailed, tortured and executed? Freedom fighters such as Khosrow Golsorkhi?
Mr Homayoun was just another turncoat intellectual who used his knowledge to keep a dictator in power for a little longer.
Watch what's going on in Egypt and see how many similarities exists between Mobarak and Shah's regime.
Ignorance is bliss, II
by Mash Ghasem on Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:42 PM PSTMr. Homayon was also the editor of AYANDEGAN,( hands down one of the best newspapers of its time). AYANDGAN has a fascinating history itself even after Homayon was gone.
In case of Homayon in particular, from his early start in somka party to his late exile and "moderation," you might say there was some type of an evolution in his ideas. Although he maintained his ultra-nationalist views to his last days.
Ignorance is bliss

Who cares what Reza Pahlavi says about the ex Minister of Information during the dark days of his father's regime?
They both belong to the same dictatorial regime who imprisoned thousands of Iranians and tortured and killed thousands more.
One is the son of that dictator and other his executioner.
Haven't monarchists learn anything from the Egyptian uprising? Mobarak has selected his Minister of Information to the post now.
Thanks, Mr. Homayoun!

Crown Prince Reza's Statement On Dariush Homayoun's demise
by Darius Kadivar on Sun Jan 30, 2011 10:55 AM PST۱۰ بهمن ماه ۱۳۸۹

In the final
by Mola Nasredeen on Sun Jan 30, 2011 10:57 AM PSTanalysis He sold his soul to Shah.
He was the last Minister of Information of his regime.
I watched the first 3 parts and all I heard was some generalities about life, etc. It's interesting that they all become 'philosophers' after the 'Crime Is Done' and they have no more power.
As the Minister of Information his job was to censor newspapers and publications and oversee the activities of SAVAK the notorious secret service responsible for imprisonment, torture and death of many Iranian freedom fighters among other things.
The point is:
What were his actions when Shah was in power and he was a part of Shah's regime? An not after he was deposed and powerless.

by Mash Ghasem on Sat Jan 29, 2011 09:18 PM PSTOne of the most infleuntial living Iranian "super" intellectuals : as the editor of Ayandegan ( he practically created modern Persian, along with Khanlari, Shamloo,...), as the Minister of ..., as...
and at the same time one of the most irresponsible, damaging individuals in modern Iranian history. I wish I could say R.I.P.
His origins from SOMKA leaves a lot to be desired, to say the least.

No Go
by masoudA on Sat Jan 29, 2011 06:20 PM PSTI am sorry but I can't forgive him. To be a political activist/analyst - one needs to be insightful - I did not see that in him. Besides - I do not consider him a monarchist either - and especially have a problem with his Hezb Mashrooteh (CIP), which never ever challenged the first amendment to mashrooteh constitution - making a religion - any religion - the OFFICIAL religion of the country. There are great people in CPI - just as there are great people with MKO........too bad so much of our resources are frustrated via these two organizations....
JJ - obviously you don't know why many Iranians like me are monarchists. The basic idea is simple and twofold;
1- We saturate a family, give them a veto card - protect them - and hope they won't scare or sell out!! because just about everyone else either chickens, or sales out!!
2- We let the parliment and the president run the country - and hope people are smart enough not to give all power to chikens and sell outs. But as it has happened over and over - sell outs and chickens can take over both.... but without akhoonds in the picture we hope we would have less chickens and more nationalists both in the parliment and as president. All the while, we have a veto card in the hands of a nationalist.
In case of Reza Shah, he ruled with an iron fist - and thank god for that - because we would need another iron fist when we finally take the country back from the mullahs. At least for a decade. You see dear JJ - 5% of the iranians population has lived on 100Tooman Dollar while 95% have lived on 1000T Dollar - so as you can imagine it would not be easy to create order and fairness in such society through Liberalism, morality or via long term education.
And as for MRP, it all worked out well, except he overestimated the wisdom of our college students - Islamists would have had no chance to take over Iran if it was not for the help of our so called leftists.....and sosoool idealistic liberals with little practical exerience, expertise, or insight to figure it out.
BTW - If Iran becomes a US style democracy after IR - just like RP said, I would consider it an 80% success. I would go along with it and hope we never get Carter or Obama types...... and for the sake of unity, I would rather not challenge a republic supporter at this point in time...
There are not many like him out there!
by Kourosh Afhami on Sat Jan 29, 2011 04:01 PM PSTRegardless of whether or not I agreed with his political points of view he was an amazingly knowledgeable man. About ten years ago I had the pleasure of a personal conversation with him on the today's architecture. He amazed and impressed me by his huge knowledge about the current state of the German, British and French architecture including the names of the influential European architects. This shows us once again which great talents had the opportunity to serve our country during the Pahlavi era! R.I.P.
