Ahmad Kasravi, an older intellectual who defended Reza Shah saying:

Our younger intellectuals cannot possibly understand, and thus cannot possibly judge Reza Shah. They cannot because they were too young to remember the chaotic and desperate conditions out of which he arose.

Reza shah had to rebuild, unify, and strengthen the country despite the opposition from various entrenched interests. His main opposition were mollas whose religious and judiciary authorities were taken away from them by Reza Shah. One of the things that shia clergies were opposing was building bath houses with shower vs (Khazineh) which used to cause so many infectious diseases such as blindness( trachoma) and Fungal Alopecia. Mollas opposed that because they believed just ghosl in khazineh is the right way and by taking shower, water splashes on you and your ghosl is (batel).

Sorry for using some farsi words in the middle, I just didnt know their english version.

statira as neizche put it you are on the losing side.

by AlexInFlorida on

Brother just because you are on the noble side, reflecting truth, honor, love.  This doesn't mean you are on the winning side.

The side that doesn't have the argument, generally uses entertainment, like parazit to spread it's half truth, half lies, and in doing so wins because it has big money behind it.

This battle is bigger than you alone, in Iran CIA reports 53% support Shah... and growing, 28% Republic and shrinking, 13% Theocracy, 6% other/commune etchowever if CIA wants one thing, that is what will happen. The green movement plan failed, due to real dctatorship existing and its tyranny.

So Today the CIA is following a new path along with it's allies and heavily paying Maryam Rajavi to build a base, even when it is listed as a terrorist organization by the usa at the same time and fought with Saddam.  They need thugs and murderors to break this regime.  And not for your good or Irans, just like they used the carrot of democracy all over the poor 3rd world, which they dominate.

The IRAN in you and I, is the ultimate loser, but at least you are choosing to not be used as a tool of their lies and for that you deserve self respect, because you earned it.

Founders of US Constitution were smart

by AlexInFlorida on

When the US constitution was created and in the writings of the founders own letters to each other it was agreed by all that the word DEMOCRACY, would not be used anywhere in the Constitution, because while it is a legitimate aspiration it has been proven time and again that it is a failed enterprise.

Now over 200 years later we can't even educate a few grown adults as to the stupidity of this idea, when huge powerful forces are literally through advertising ramming it down our throats and want it for Iran, so they can dominate the politics of the country through money, which they were unsuccessful at when Shah was in power.

Hello they don't even have it for themselves!!!

Whats sad... even pathetic is the broken record of old cliches and lies we were fed that the Shah was a dictator.  Gentlemen, children, fools... get your Iranian heads out of the hole they are imbedded in.  Learn the definition of dictator if only to educate yourselves as to why the Shah was not only not a dictator, but one of the best things that ever happened to our undeveloped country.

Who are we?  We are Iran.  Iran isn't just a piece of land, but a part of us.  Some of us need to honestly reflect on our level of thinking and the sources we base our ideas on.  Not be so easily influenced by VOA and its great marketing out reach on behalf of the US government.

Entertainment and facts are very different.  Disingenuous people always seem to use entertainment to spoon feed people, poisenous lies.

Look Iran may lose and propaganda will likely win, but we don't all have to be ignorant of what happened to us in 1979 and who the Shah really was for Iran.  That is just being disingenuous. Mohammed Reza Shah and Dictator don't belong in the same sentence. I know it, most of Iran knows it today. Period.

unbalanced and unfair as always

by statira on

The only bad thing Reza shah did was the so called( kashfe hezabe) which was a temporary thing. He did not enfoce it as a law or insert it into our constitution and for 50 yrs later during his and and his son's time, many women still wore their traditional chador. Now we as a very ungrateful people ignoring all the good things Reza shah and his son did for our country and just attacking him on that subject. The funny thing about these two idiots is that the only negative thing they did mention about Jalad Khomeini was the Iran/Iraq war.

:) I want democracy!!!!! no YOU cant,

by SamSamIIII on

No, YOU!!!! cant handle democracy.

Why the heck not???????

Because YOU are neck deep in Arabo Ommatism for 52 generations after Omar and as if Democracy fixed it for Omaru ommatized Pakistanis it shall do the same for you 2. Democracy without the frame of identity shall always be a temporary mirage which shall fade away without the foundation of true native culture. Remember Bakhtiar? , clear example of how ommaties cant handle common sense & democracy.

First decide about the Groom before shopping for Groom's dress since you might have to kiss another Frog in the long line of Omaru Grooms.

Cheers!!!

&btw these munjeecake duet have serious delivery issue, baba easy on the volume & broken cliche record of fence sitting lobby groups ;).

"Az mast ke bar mast".

by Dariush Kabir on

Reading some of the comments in this site is sad. We are still after experiencing the Pahlavi (father and son) and Khomeini and now Khamanie still debating on the meaning of "dictator". Still looking for another dictator to come and bring us democracy. "Az mast ke bar mast".

The first step to practicing democracy has to be an honest debate on our sick culture. Our culture is a bad mix of Islam, Persian and western culture some good and mostly bad.

Parham Do you know the defnition of Dictator

by AlexInFlorida on

or are you just busy regurgitating the propaganda you listen to???

It has to do with Absolute Power and using it Unlawfully.  Neither of which describe a Lawful King, who never broke the law i.e Mohammad Reza Shah.

these guys put a smile on

by hamsade ghadimi on

these guys put a smile on my face.  i don't know which is funnier, the video or alex's comments?  or if they're working in concert.  if not, the duo should read the comments and get more ideas.  let's stop reading books, newspapers, magazines.  let's stop following the media altogether and think for ourselves and if our thoughts are in contradiction with those who perscribe such notion, then we'll be scolded and told that we're full of crap.  too funny.

Parham

Thank you for that Jahanshah

by Parham on

Really, thank you. Reading the pages of iranian.com these days one can come to the conclusion that it's been overtaken by an army of dictator worshippers!
It so needs that breath of fresh air.

A good reminder about the two different, yet so similar system that we have had in our dear vatan, Iran.

A good reminder to all of us about the long road ahead to the land of democracy and freedom for all in our dear vatan, Iran.

Great job guys

Jahanshah Javid Your Views are uneducated and misguided

by AlexInFlorida on

People who know of Democracy as followed by the USA to be a force for Evil based on it's record will not be able to agree with you at all when comparing the Shah system with the USA.

It's not idol worshipping like you have in USA Obamamania, Reaganmania, but system worshipping, 2500 years proven record with 250 years disaster.

These guys in the videa remind me of how uneducated and Ignorant Iranians can be, but hey if Iranians were'nt those things would we have changed a Shah for a Khomeini??? I doubt it. Iranian, Where you are in the world today, that is what you should be reflecting on... or at least read a little nichze and realize what a disaster democratic systems are for humanity as a whole.

Shah knew the difference between Freedom and Democracy

by AlexInFlorida on

While the majority of Readers on Iranian.com get themselves educated by the media, which is really nothing more than the propaganda goebels in Nazi Germany used, a small percentage of people do still think for themselves and not as they are told to think.

Case and point. All articles today online now are talking of the US/Chinese presidents meetings, with the USA not being happy about 1 Human Rights issues in tibet 2 Chinese currency and trade 3 North Korea.

You must forgive me for being so open but what a load of hypocritical nonsense.

1) Consider the human rights situation in gaza, 1300 people murdered with full US support/ DEMOCRACY NOT FREEDOM

2) Consider Israels existence and the UN not recognizing Palestine over 50 years DEMOCRACY NOT FREEDOM

3) consider the artificially weak dollar causing global inflation. DEMOCRACY NOT FREEDOM

4) Consider Iraq and 1 in every 2 children being an orphan due to the US occupation and domination of the country DEMOCRACY NOT FREEDOM

In the past ordinary, non thinking, brainwashed people I feel had a right to aspire to democracy as a form of government. After all the usa had proved it could be the most powerful country on earth by setting up a system in which people had a choice based on disingenuous agendas, deceit and coercion. Some choice. DEMOCRACY NOT FREEDOM

However the truth was the only reason usa got to that position had nothing to do with democracy, but the size of the usa compared with its main competitors, japan, germany etc. that is why the usa won.

Today, whether we want to admit it or not, china is the big state and the usa is in decline, but still ahead. So where are all the people that will want a type of one party hierarchy for Iran, like it exists in china? That would like the Shahs time put freedom first for a country like Iran.

You know in 30 years time with huge victories under chinas belt, and more soft power their way this will be the case, especially with the easily influenced and under educated people of Iran.

Shame for Iranians they can't follow their own culture and their own path and have to change themselves anytime the grass looks greener on the other side. Persian Monarchy is too sophisticated for a people that can be governed by Islam and not able to see the roots of success and failure on the world stage. Freedom i.e. the possibility to enhance your life, over Democracy any day, This is the lesson that 2500 years of world history has taught the world.

Jahanshah Javid

Reality check

by Jahanshah Javid on

Thank you for reminding those who worship the shahs and/or Khomeini that there was nothing wonderful about either of them. Nothing worth going back to. Better learn from the extremism of both eras or else fall into the same idol worshiping trap without real freedom or democracy.
