AP -- Iran objects to the logo for the 2012 London Olympics, contending it is racist because it resembles the word "Zion" and warning of a possible boycott of the games. The secretary general of Iran's National Olympic Committee said Iran sent a letter to International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge. The letter claims the 2012 logo spells out "Zion," a biblical term widely recognized to refer to the city of Jerusalem. In comments carried by the official IRNA news agency Monday, secretary general Bahram Afsharzadeh said the letter urges other Muslim states to oppose the "racist logo." "There is no doubt that negligence of the issue from your side may affect the presence of some countries in the games, especially Iran which abides by commitment to the values and principles," the letter said >>>

IRI is in a desperate need
by alaaf on Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:18 AM PSTZION - shmION - bad karma will get you every time
by sumwoman on Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:09 AM PSTactually, that ZION logo has been circling the Truth Circles for awhile, now.
It was an Iraqi guy who started the 9/11 truth movement up here in Vancouver.
I kid you not!
He was standing on the street handing out dvd's documenting how 9/11 was a fraud.
i guess he was pretty pissed off that his country was in ruins.
one thing led to another and soon many people were standing on the street handing out dvd's and literature countering the official 9/11 story.
once the movement started gathering steam....the guy dropped out but he's still around and comes out to events.
I think, he was not expecting to pull in so many people.
I don't think I see too many Canadian Iranians at Truth Events.
There were a few television reporters from Iran at the 2007 conference.
anyway, many news articles floating around about how Israeli and American agents are using software that allows them to have multiple identities on-line.
Is it common to have so many avatars of buildings, roses and stars?
I don't think I have ever met a real living Iranian that doesn't care about Palestinians.
The tide is turning. I attend a weekly musical / comedy open-mic... this one retired professor sings songs about injustices done to coal miners...well she made a speech about how horrified she was about what the Israelis had done during the last massacre.
She stumbled on the word Israeli...that's because of years of indoctrination that Israel can do no wrong.... she overcame her fear!
I guess, Israel has gone tooo far, even for lefties.
Not the first time
by Shifteh Ansari on Tue Mar 01, 2011 08:03 PM PSTThis is not the first time IRI authorities have seen "more" to a logo. Last year, there was a big deal raised around the logo of a Tehran newspaper, which some of the sick gentlemen found to be too sexy!
This is the logo, and here you can read the story.
ZION or not, this is the worst Olympics logo I have ever seen
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Tue Mar 01, 2011 07:55 PM PSTActually, it looks like it was made by a Zoni.

Nozi?
by Faramarz on Tue Mar 01, 2011 07:33 PM PSTIsraelis should also pull out of the 2012 Olympics!
The Brits are messing with all the loonies and retards in the Middle East!
.........
by yolanda on Tue Mar 01, 2011 07:01 PM PSTIran won 2 medals in the last Olympic Games!
Apparently for IRI it is more important to fight (or avoid?) the Zionists than going to the Olympic Games!
I recall IRI made an Iranian swimmer play sick to avoid swimming against an Israeli swimmer at Beijing Games!

by Doctor mohandes on Tue Mar 01, 2011 05:39 PM PSTWe need a constructive and a comprehensive solution.
Taking that right away from our talented athletes is not the way to go about this.
Looking for bahaneh
by Doctor mohandes on Tue Mar 01, 2011 05:37 PM PSTAnd They always happen to find one in all the odd places!
The funny thing was the tone / languageof what mr. Afsharian (nia?) wrote back to them that if you do not take any corrective measures SOON it will affect Iran and several other countries' probablity of participation!!! What other countries? Sweden? England? russia? or maybe USA? how about Mexico?
Good
by MRX1 on Tue Mar 01, 2011 05:36 PM PSTI hope they ban IRR team permannetly. It will send a message to these low life's in charge that no one is buying their s* any more.
South africa was banned because of aparthied and yet IRR which practices gender partide against half of population in Iran is not banned!
Good catch?!
by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Mar 01, 2011 05:26 PM PSTWhat kind of catch is this that no one caught it before the Islamic Republic?
How twisted do you need to be for the Islamic Republic to tell you what you are REALLY seeing.
Shouldn't the "zionist" designers been more obvious in promoting their cause? Should they have made it so difficult that only geniuses in Iran were able to decode?
How ridiculous. If you think the logo says ZION, you need your head examined. Really. Pretty soon you'll see the Star of David in Allah.
I'd say...
by comrade on Tue Mar 01, 2011 05:09 PM PSTGood catch.
Never increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.
they want to play hardball
by azadi5 on Tue Mar 01, 2011 05:04 PM PSTI think it should be the Olympics committee banning Iran from competing in the Olympics, for making stupid remarks like that, also to raise the issue of human rights violations by IRI regime towards Iranian people, and basically whoever is in Iran, regardless of their nationality.
