amnesty.org: The reimposition of 20-year jail terms on seven leaders of Iran's Baha'i religious minority is “outrageous”, Amnesty International said today as it made a renewed call for their immediate release. The seven - Fariba Kamalabadi, Mahvash Sabet, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Behrouz Tavakkoli, and Vahid Tizfahm - had previously had their sentences cut from 20 to 10 years by an Iranian appeal court, only for the authorities to reverse the decision. "Yet again, the Iranian authorities are manipulating their own justice system to persecute members of a religious minority,” said Malcolm Smart, Amnesty International’s director for the Middle East and North Africa. “Instead of doubling their sentences, the authorities should be setting the Baha’i leaders free, right now, and guaranteeing their freedom to practice their religion free from threat or persecution. “Such arbitrary and vindictive acts are a salutary reminder of why the UN Human Rights Council voted recently to create a Special Rapporteur on Iran. The Council’s decision came not a moment too soon.” The seven Baha’i leaders, two women and five men, are held in harsh conditions at Reja'i Shahr (also known as Gohardasht) prison in Karaj, near Tehran >>>

by Anis Cyrus on Fri Apr 01, 2011 10:22 AM PDTIn the history of mankind every step towards evolution and progress had a cost paid by the blood and life of heros of change. Those who sacrificed themselves to water the roots of the tree of freedom of thought. It was so in the old ages and even during the modern and enlightenment era.
Its happening now in Iran. Baha´is and other Iranians seeking liberty,peace and Human rights, youth of all parts of Iran,artists, writters,thinkers,woman from north to south,turks,kurds, beluch,fars, all want a free Iran. Free from boundage of fanaticism and ignorance. Its near.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Fri Apr 01, 2011 09:43 AM PDTThis is what you said wrong:
But for now you must respect the laws of that land ? Stop proselytyzing
The law of the "land" does not deserve respect when it mistreats people. Law based on Sharia and Islam is inherently flawed and evil. It must not be recognized as legitimate. In America we had laws allowing slavery and discrimination. They were not respected and did not deserve respect. They were eventually removed. But even before that slavery was bad. The same goes for Islamic law. It is wrong now; and will always be. No matter what a bunch of idiots in "Majlis" put together.
The other thing is also wrong:
After you have toppeled the Islamic Government do whatever you want to
do.
Would you really support laws banning Islam? What if USA or Europe did that. What if an Iranian nationalist government banned Islam. Or restricted it so no one was allowed to convert to it. Or levied extra taxes on Muslim
I believe there are many innocent, beautiful and peaceloving Baha'is. I

What's wrong with your points?
by Reality-Bites on Fri Apr 01, 2011 09:29 AM PDTWell, let's look at a couple of your comparisons: I don't know how many Azalis are left in the World (it can't be that many), but what's this Bahais = Hate and shunning Azalis all about? And how is this hatred manifesting itself?
Tell me, have Bahais been going round killing any Azalis that you know of in the past 32 years? Have Bahais imprisoned and tortured hundreds of Azalis, confiscated their homes, properties and livelihoods? Have Bahais thrown out all Azalis from public sectors jobs and denied their young ones access to higher education? Have Bahais been desecrating Azali cemeteries, bulldozed their graves and holy sites?
To sum up, in what way can you possibly equate the way the IRI is treating Bahais, with the way Bahais are supposedly treating Azalis, especially when Bahais have nothing whatsoever to do with the few Azalis that live, who knows where?
Just because you come up with some fallacious self-constructed comparisons and use 'equal' signs to desperately suggest a linkage and claim that Bahais are as bad as the Hardline Islamists, doesn't make it so.

Baha'is or people of any religion can live in peace in any country if they follow the laws of that Land. Just like you respect the laws of Jewish Israel, respet the laws of Islamic Iran.
Islam = Wilayat-i-faghih
Bahaism = UHJ or Guardianship
Islam = Hates Bahais
Bahais = Hates Azalis
Islam = Shuns Baha'is on the basis of different thinking.
Bahaism = Shuns Azalis on the basis of different thinking.

So how about giving the Bahai their due rights?

YOU ARE A RUHI'IZED HAIFAN BAHA'I.
====================================================
I don't really know what a RUHI'IZED HAIFAN BAHA'I is, nor do I particularly care, but having read many posts/articles/blogs on this site for a few years now, I do know you harbour a pathological and obsessive hatred of the Bahais, which has got beyond sad.
The fact that you post tons of the same repeat material on these people is one sign and accusing anyone pulls you up for your obsessive behaviour, of being a "Haifan Bahai", is another.
Anyway, while I would support the right of anyone to their belief and religion (be they Muslims, Bahais, Christian, Jews, or whatever), I don't follow any religions myself. But I did grow up next door to a Bahai family in Iran who suffered terribly at the hands of the IRI. And I can tell you they would've loved nothing more than being merely "shunned" and left alone to get on with their lives. Sadly, they weren't.

Furthermore you are wrong on several counts. As a non-religious person I'm no expert on the Baha'i faith, but even I know that it is no cult or any off-shoot of Isalm, as your Islamic Republic would want everyone to believe. It is an independent and a peaceful religion. It does not force any of its members to do anything and it has never committed any acts of violence against the injustices of the IRI. Also, contrary to your claim, Baha'is are allowed to practice their faith in a number of Muslim countries like Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and even Pakistan.
Can't blame you really. You people have been indoctrinated for so long by the Mullas to despise anything they don't approve of, that it's become second-nature to you folks to automatically believe their hateful drivel as indisputable fact.

Not only that but also Quran asks Muslims to listen to all points of views and choose the best ....... now if we keep destroying every single faith, cult ,and wrong or right ideologies then what would be left for us to listen and read to choose from?
Why should anyone as a Muslim even be afraid of different ideologies? Yet alone allow herself or himself to harass people over that .......
set them free to convert as many as they want ....... if someone choose to be a bahaei so be it ......
God has given us the right to choose ..... right or wrong .... is not anyone's damn business .....

by fussygorilla on Thu Mar 31, 2011 10:54 PM PDTyou again, distorting the issue to fit your personal agenda. Baha'ism is a cult born out of Islam. Bab was a Shi'i Iranian clergy who had delustions of prophethood. Now, Baha'ism is banned all over the Muslim world as an illegitimate off shoot of Islam, NOT ONLY IN IRAN. You can scream as much as you like, but these 7 had to stop proselytising to avoid arrest. Baha'is are demanded by their ruling authoriy in Haifa to be missionaries and convert others, which is against Islamic rulings. It is NOT just "thinking differently" as you claim. Tough!

Theocracy Needs Enemies
by Bahram G on Thu Mar 31, 2011 04:14 PM PDTEvery form of dictatorship thrives on enemy and enemy-making. The theocracy ruling Iran is in desperate need for enemies of all sorts to divert attention of the people from their awful plight and find a scapegoat to blame. Britain and the U.S., and of recent times Israel, have been convenient external scapegoats for the parasitic mullahs. More closer to home, Jews and Baha'is have served the purpose. But, the Jewish community of Iran has basically dwindled to a few thousands and the Jews lack the numbers to shoulder the blame and serve as believable culprits. The Baha'is, on the other hand have around 300,000 adherents and they are spread all over the country. They are not only better candidates because of their numbers, they also pose a threat to the rule of the mullahs. No place for the clergy in the Baha'i religion. Baha'is also believe that their religion has ended Islam's tenure. Now that's a big claim and a terrible threat to the cushy parasitic life of the mullahs. So they do all they can to wipe out the Baha'is and it is an official state policy of the Islamic Republic
The mullahs and their simpleton followers as well as their paid mercenaries are having a great ride and are loath to tolerate anything or anyone that may pose a threat to their dastardly shameful existence. Imprisoning seven innocent Baha'is hardly bothers these curses of Iran.
