Not racist at all soosan khanoom
by IranMarzban on Tue Mar 15, 2011 04:14 PM PDTpeople don`t care about the black face at least i didn't people like the songs like arbab khodam... anyway please don`t make up history iranisns are not racist at all oh and soosan khanoom you say iran is not a multicultural socity you are completely wrong we have lots of diffrent cultures in iran persians, lors, kurds, turks, arabs, baluchis, qashqais, assyrians, armenians and etc... iran IS a multicultural society
Good points comments
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue Mar 15, 2011 03:38 PM PDTIranian society is not a multicultural society. In addition to that I know that the kids over there never get a chance to get educated on the subject of Diversity and Race ........ The teacher himself is not educated on this issue to even educate these kids ........ I am telling these based on facts ...........
SK: I have enough exmaples to convince my lawyer:)
by comments on Tue Mar 15, 2011 03:14 PM PDTI think "Bashoo.." is different from being racist. There is no doubt that Iran is not a multicultural/multiethics country.
When did Iranian students have the opportunity (funding or/and permision) to get educated and experience other countries? Do Iranian students (highschool/university)even work and make money. Are they indepenent?
Being isolated or/and poor is different from being racist. They haven't seen different kinds of people that's why the mother wanted to wash the face; entirely isolated.
Whenever my mother comes here she keeps showing me beautiful and attractive black girls and surprisingly asks me to watch them. She says if they have changed or she hasn't seen one.
By the way, a similar movie was "Amiroo". A chubby boy and my sisters friends used to make me to dance like them. And, I was always happy that they ask me to act for him! How cruel Iranian girls can be:) Or, in "Everybody Hates Chris", Did you see Christ families were touching Greig's white face and were surprized by seeing a white person?
Very strange
by hirre on Tue Mar 15, 2011 03:12 PM PDTI have never in my life heard this version. The version I heard goes back to the time of Zarahustra and the avesta fire. These people worked in the fireplaces, keeping the fire alive, that's why their faces got turned black. The reason they wear red is because to symbolize the fire...

Soosan khanoom, not racist at all
by ComraidsConcubine on Tue Mar 15, 2011 03:05 PM PDTIt's humour which embraces, kaka, meaning 'brother' , ultimately, something "alien", but embraced all the same. And not only that, but a bearer of good tidings. (the video's report is inadequate.)
It's one of the peculiar social particular to the persian psyche, which is historically admirable.
What can happen, however is in time of scarcity, as most cultures, Iranian regional ones especially being quite "insular", it can encourage superstitious nonsense. There is some evidence of e.g. of the arrival of an "alien" to a village and all ills being considered subsequent...
let's face it Iranian aren't used to that skin color much
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue Mar 15, 2011 02:59 PM PDTwhen I was an undergrad student they showed an award winning Iranian film at our college called " Bashoo Ghareebe yeh Khochack "
let us face it Iranian are not used to that skin color much ......... have you seen that film?
A kid from a faraway southern village in Iran somehow ends up in a Northern village of Iran ...... The kid was black as a few are in that region ...... so all white Shomalee kids would make fun of him. Their mom even washed the poor kid several times and said things like ,..... "how come you are still dirty and black .... no matter how many times I wash you !!!!!!..... "
I think that was the most embarrassed moment in my life ........ I just pretended that i had not heard it but I am sure many in the audience did and were not amused at all .......
Soosan Khanoom, I agree with you
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Mar 15, 2011 02:38 PM PDTHaji Firooz should not be black faced.
it is ok comment jan to
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue Mar 15, 2011 02:30 PM PDTit is ok comment jan to sometimes agree to disagree ....... : )
I hope I am right.
by comments on Tue Mar 15, 2011 02:15 PM PDTI can't believe that Hajee Firooz has anything to do with other races. I have seen people are happy during Norooz, but I haven't seen that they "laugh at" Haji Firooz. They express their happiness. I hope I am right. I can't accept any more nationality embrassment other than IRI.
I hate to be against dear SK, but it happens. Are we going to call throwing white cream cakes on someone's face in a party of black people as a racist again us whites?
Hajee Feeroz Iranian style
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue Mar 15, 2011 01:54 PM PDTHajee Feeroz Iranian style ......... I found it quite racists... . why do Iranian color the skin black and laugh at it ?............ Are black people to them is what clown is to the westerners ? ....I cared less when I was a kid back then in Iran but now I see it too racists and not funny at all ......
