The revolution was about freedom. Unfortunately our unsophisticated people thought Islam will give them that. They were stupid and we are all paying for it. As soon as IR was established normal freedoms went.

Yes I agree that it requires big changes. But remember we used to have  a more or less secular government for many decades before IRI. It worked and both people and mullahs were willing to live with it. We had peace and people did accept it.

The constitution will definitely have to be rewritten. It should be made to be secular. The mollahs will put up a big fight. However mollahs are very unpopular the time to do it is right after IR goes.

Another important thing is to remove the legal privileges of the mollahs. No more government handouts; no tax beaks. Plus government supervision of how they spend donationss from people. I would also require a license to be a mollah. Reza Shah did a lot of this and that fueled Iranian modernization. Those reforms need to be reinstated. 

One other thing is that clerics should not be allowed to issue "Fatwas". Many good people have been murdered by fanatics based on Fatwas. The cleric doing  so is basically issuing a "murder contract". That should be made illegal and anyone doing so should be prosecuted for incitement of violence.

First of all, beautiful name! Second, I usually appreciate your posts, and stance. But let me say this to those who keep bestowing praise on Shah, i.e. "he was a nice guy, he was a gentlemen, he was civilized, he did so much economically."

IR has also done some good things economically, but I doubt the same people would give credit to those things, and rightfully so. Most people like DK,Monarchists, and even yourself is that you see events through a historical vacuum. Let me explain, the 1979 revolution and its results could not have come to the fruition that it did without Mohammad Pahlavi. He was as instrumental in unleashing the mullahs on Iranians as Khomeini was. History does not happen in vacuum. There are always causes and effects, and the role of the Shah, from he silencing the intellectuals/democrats while giving a fertile grounds to the ignorant mullahs in mosques to the execution of people like Dr. Fatemi to sparing a degenerate criminal like Khomeini because he was a so called Ayatollah (what a bull crap reasoning) went a long way in establishing the mullahs as the only alternatives to his rule. All democratic voices were silenced, and those radical, Islamofascists gained strength by the lack of rational, and democratic discourse.

 I don't know how it will be done,to stand with reason against Islam is taken as a sin.And it has to be done in order to free Iran.One thing about Islam is that it is a perfect dominant.

 Even A Turkish style Govt would be like a dream acheivement for Iran. The Ayatollah must step down from Govt power and the constitution must be re-written.The Opposition needs to have a plan to deal with a removal peacefully and/or violent sacrifice. Mostafa Rahimi's article 'Why am I against an Islamis Republic' was published in Khaandanihaa, before there was an Islamic Republic.

Haj seyjavadi parted with the Revolution, many months after the victory of the Revolution.

And Shaamloo, he was a well known opponant of the previous regime. He was an outspoken critic, and went on record, citing his revolutionary poetry, every chance he got.

After the Revolution, there was one poem ("dahaanat raa meebooyand, mabaadaa gofteh baashee doostat daaram") of his, that seemed to be critical of the new era.

He seemed to have kissed political activism goodbye, after the Revolution. Now privately, I understand he was not happy with the way the revolution went, but I am yet to come across anything from him, critisizing the Mullas, as passionately as he critisized the Pahlavi era.

At that time what Khomeini was saying was not out of line with the general mood of society. Political groups across the spectrum, with rare exceptions, used the same kind of language against their own enemies. Revolution was the HOT and POPULAR term of the day. Just like DEMOCRACY is today.

The Islamic Republic is the perfect embodiment of Khomeini's hateful, deranged, paranoid views. So congratulations to Vali e Faghih and all his servants: Mission accomplished.

But this is the end of the line. Freedom is coming to get you! And the wonderful thing is that this is the truth. The Islamic Republic is ALREADY history in the hearts and minds of the masses. It's just a matter of time. Sit back, relax and watch.
