No mention on Why Her Husband Siamak Pourzand was Arrested ?

by Darius Kadivar on

On 29 November 2001, a 71-year-old journalist was arrested for "spying and undermining state security" and for "having links with monarchists and counter-revolutionaries" (RSF 9 July 2002). According to one news report, Siamak Purzand was also charged with transferring "local information to Reza Pahlavi, the son of the late Iranian King Mohammad Reza Pahlavi currently in American exile, and distributed financial aid among monarchists" (DPA 4 May 2002). Upon his arrest, Mr. Purzand was "held in a secret place for four months without access to a lawyer or a doctor" (RSF 7 May 2002). According to Human Rights Watch (HRW),

Siamak Pourzand heads a newly established Artistic and Cultural Complex which organized cultural gatherings for artists, writers and journalists. In recent years he has worked as a cultural commentator with several reformist newspapers. All of them have since been closed. Mr. Pourzand has also been accused in the past by conservatives in Iran of being sympathetic to the "monarchist" cause, partly because of his association with the press during the reign of the Shah of Iran and also because his estranged first wife is currently working abroad as Chief of Staff for Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah (22 Dec. 2001).

In May 2002, Mr. Purzand was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment (DPA 4 May 2002; The Deseret News 5 May 2002; RSF 7 May 2002). According to one source, in July 2002, Mr. Purzand received "confirmation of an 11-year jail sentence" (ibid. 9 July 2002).

Enayat Fani Still thinks Revolution in Iran was a Step forward ?

by Darius Kadivar on

There are Times I wonder what is he doing in the "United Kingdom" of All places ?           RESTORATION: Britain's 'Glorious Revolution' of 1688 and the 'Bill of Rights'       Now if this had been an assessment by someone like Charlie Rose who lives in the "United States":           What does it mean to be royal? Charlie Rose interviews Jeremy Paxman on the British Monarchy

Charlie Rose takes a look at the film “The King’s Speech” with director Tom Hooper and actor Colin Firth

Or Even That other clueless Illiterate Great American Jon Stewart:
ROYAL DAILY: Star of the "King's Speech" on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart

CLUELESS JON STEWART: "Ebrahim Yazdi Such a Lovely Man"
I would find that as being at worst "coherent" with the country and political system under which they live and make a living.     Definitively these folks are paid much more than the Poor Staff at the BBC Persian but is that a reason to be So Full of Hot Air and Inconsistent in preparing their interviews ?     pictory: Promotional Film on Women during Pahlavi Era (1970's)

But then again He is Not alone is he ?

GAUCHE CAVIAR: Ebrahim Golestan interviewed by Massoud Behnoud (BBC Persian)

;0)

This interview was even less prepared than the one he did with Ardeshir Zahedi where he quoted from Pirnia's Book instead of quoting from Zahedi's published memoires.     Anyways Better Luck Next Time ... and make sure to ask for a salary rise !

Very interesting interview by (one of ) my favourite interviewer

by ComraidsConcubine on

It makes such a change and is a joy to watch and listen to people who speak properly, but I'm going to have to listen to it again, as I'm sure I've missed quite a bit of what was being hinted at.

Dear Mehr Angiz

If the situation is not as bad as you describe then why did Lauren Booth (Tony Blair's sister-in-law) so passionately became a Muslim.

Well I had to spend a week to write a poem to welcome her to our world.
