by comments on Thu Mar 24, 2011 05:17 AM PDTThanks. Yes, we invited 3 female friends (one Iranian, two non-Iranians). Actually, they asked us if they could come and we agreed. I think it was helpful. All of them wanted to be towards my wife's head and calmed her. They didn't want to watch the baby that was coming.

by yolanda on Wed Mar 23, 2011 09:29 PM PDTI am not surprised that the video got removed......Who taped the bloody video and posted on you-tube? This lady's hubby? The mid-wife seems to be very poised and methodical.....she held the baby upside down like a chicken with one hand and cut the umbilical cord with another hand..... ambidextrous!

Miracle of Life everywhere
by Monda on Wed Mar 23, 2011 06:21 PM PDTWhy only in IRI?!! And birth by C-section is just as Amazing (hope JJ gets one of those too, out of Iran)
comments, you invited friends?!
by Monda on Wed Mar 23, 2011 06:15 PM PDTAdoption out of Iran is such arduous task for most people. Needless to say, very rewarding. Such decisions are most personal. Wishing you guys the best, no matter how you decide to expand your family.
Faramarz jan, my bit about that trauma
by Monda on Wed Mar 23, 2011 06:07 PM PDTSince it's the common denominator of all human beings, no one mentions it except for the scientists. There are tons written by neonatal psychologists I assure you. I hope you feel relieved now.
Good lyrics btw, thank you.

Very nice Faramarz, but they tell me
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Mar 23, 2011 05:52 PM PDTBut they tell me
I was an old soul
even as a baby
I could recite
Hafez and Saadi
Played violin too
As mom held it for me
I am a true dokhtar Abadani!
Faramarz jan, Don't be shy to call this poem great :).
I Was so Young When I Was Born!
by Faramarz on Wed Mar 23, 2011 05:40 PM PDTHow about the young born? He/she is the one who is having lots of trauma!
"I was so young when I was born
My eyes could not yet see
And by the time of my first dawn
Somebody holding me . . . they said
I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace
We've been expecting you
You bring such joy in Crackerbox Palace
No matter where you roam know our love is true!"
I have been in the
by comments on Wed Mar 23, 2011 05:11 PM PDTI have been in the operation room and invited some good friends to support. I heard in Iran the husband is allowed to be in the operation room now.
I am not sure at present whether we should give a birth or adopt a baby. In the event of adoption I don't think that I can stay in touch with Iranians.
Yesterday I had to write a letter to my niece
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Mar 23, 2011 02:35 PM PDTAs part of a project for her school, I had to write a letter to her and tell her what I remembered about the day she was born. Interesting assignment for me. I did have help from my sister though.
Monda Khanum, JJ is having a Confucius moment
by Iranian123 on Wed Mar 23, 2011 02:31 PM PDTJust for the record, some are born through cesarean section.
Here's another great quote, Confucius say: "And remember, no matter where you go, there you are. "
Yep JJ,
by Monda on Wed Mar 23, 2011 01:43 PM PDTi've heard the same comment from many men. Fathers often feel helpless and intense lack of control around their partners giving birth. Although at times, father's presence can be very helpful to all parties involved.
When I was giving birth
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Mar 23, 2011 02:26 PM PDTMy mom kept leaving the room when she could not take it. At one point, the doctor told me to tell my mom that her constant leaving and coming back into the room was a distraction for her.
Nope
by Jahanshah Javid on Wed Mar 23, 2011 01:12 PM PDTI was at the hospital, but they did not allow me in the room where my daughter was born. Come to think of it, I probably would not have gone in even if they allowed me.
Much more detached and easy to watch the video of a stranger giving birth -- without the screams of pain...
too otagh amal naboodi?
by Monda on Wed Mar 23, 2011 01:02 PM PDTWhen your daughter was born, you were not there?
Actually, are men even allowed in the birthing rooms in Iran?? Never having given birth in Iran, I really have no idea!
Process?
by Jahanshah Javid on Wed Mar 23, 2011 12:52 PM PDTWe all know the process... it's the actual moment of birth that's rarely seen.
