AFP: Iraqi and Afghani Presidents Jalal Talabani and Hamid Karzai arrived on Saturday for talks with their Iranian counterpart Mahmud Ahmadinejad to mark Nowruz, or the new year, the official IRNA news agency reported. Nowruz, meaning "new day" in Farsi, marks the transition from winter to spring, as well as the start of a new year in Iran and Afghanistan, with an estimated 300 million people observing the regional holiday. For the second year running Iran invited regional leaders to celebrate the Nowruz holiday as a "symbol of peace".>>>

A great move..
by Aarash4545 on Sun Mar 27, 2011 06:26 PM PDTLeaving all our political differences with these usurpers of power in Iran aside, I believe this is a good move to unify and promote all nations who celebrate Norooz. We have been kept too scattered for too long. This is a brand new initiative and should not be compared to, or mistaken with, the 2500 years celebrations of the late Shah. It is befitting that this initiative should be taken by Iran rather than Tajikistan or Afghanistan etc, and it should be kept as a cultural unification and nothing else!
I for one am all for it. Well done Mahmoodg!
