The Best Penalty for Crimes Against Women

Glad most of you enjoyed the show
by Joe L. on Fri May 13, 2011 12:03 PM PDTWell said jasonrobardas. The problem is known to exist in South East Asia as common practice:
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid_throwing
Unfortunately lack of education, social awareness, woman's rights, and democratic organizations in South East Asian countries makes these crimes mostly go unpunished. Generally speaking, the "class" of Iranian society (women in general) is far more advanced than those in the region and Asia as a whole, yet the Iranian society still has ways to go.
A more realistic analysis must be based on regional developments and standards. Hopefully the Western standards will become the dominant culture in the coming decades, specially in South East Asian countries and Asia as a whole.

Acid throwing which has become prevalent in Moslem countries is itself one of the many symptoms of social pathos in such societies. Male dominated cultures that raise men who think they must have the last word. They see women as subservient .A woman making a choice of her own is threatening .She should obey the man and welcome his approach , no matter what .
The walls built between the two genders and their segregation impedes natural communication .
As a consequence ,mistrust , animosity and frustration with such intensity shows up .The gender on the other side of the wall becomes dehumanized .Acid throwing is just the symptom .

What if the punishment was not harsh
by Joe L. on Fri May 13, 2011 08:41 AM PDTfor fun: Imagine the news said the man will serve "many" years in prison:
JJ: Another pro man verdict of IRI. Shows you what's up in the country
Yolanda: ah this saddens me so much to see a man goes free for this horrible crime. IRI will go down history books as one of the worse of worse of the worst. Chinese are so much better because they would put a rat on his face tied with a bowl and Mexico would have been great since they are high rank in FIFA
Anahid Hojjati: I think poetry and news for IRI bad is must and will should go. Down with IRI and his supporters
Shifteh Ansari: News just arrived that IRI killed on man by a driver driving fast on freeway. The "accident" is to eliminate all the green supporters. More to come
Dariush Kadivar: <link>, <link>, and unrelated <link>
Yolanda: ah thank you for bringing IRI to justice as they will go down history books for having a lot of accidents on the roads
DK: <link>, <link>, Farah Pahlavi <link>, Sarkozi <link>
Bavafa: DK stop it, these are unrelated
DK: <link> hahaha <link>, lol <link>, and for you <link>
Yolanda: Ah IRI is so bad with everything. Even I head that there was an accident that a person was injured. China and Mexico are ranking higher in FIFA
Mahmoudg: All these would be solved with Israeli strike to bring eye for an eye justice. Kill Iranians
Bavafa: No that would not be good
Shifteh: Thanks everyone for bringing the IRI atrocisites to our attention. Now listen to developing news, in another accident, a man has gone to hospital with a broken leg
Yolanda: ah, this will go down in books as one of the worst. IRI will pay for this as Chinese would never and mexico is higher GDP
Anahid: poetry is another level that IRI will pay for. The man in the hospital needs help
DK: <link>, <link>, <link>, accidents are IRI crimes <link>, <link>, Tom and Jerry <link>, Pink Panther <link>, lol <link>
JJ: When we were in Abadan we had no accidents. IRI has shown how bad it is
Mahmoudg: nothing that a strike can't solve
Bavafa: No that's not the answer
AO: Mullas are backward and we are so forward
Shifteh: Developing news, a woman has burned her finger cooking pizza
Yolanda: This one will go down the books as the worse IRI crime.
AO: and of course under IRI women have to cook
DK: Disney princesses <link>, unrelated <link>, hahaha <link>, lol <link>
And so on....and so on... and on ....and on.

Qisas is a travesty and a shame to human civilization
by Shifteh Ansari on Thu May 12, 2011 08:09 PM PDTJust as there is no justification to a pre-meditated and heinous crime, there is no justification to retribution in this manner.
The Iranian judicial system is a joke, failing Iranian citizens in so many different ways. To leave justice in the hands of a victim whose life has been altered and damaged for good is a savage and horrifying solution to the problem. Ameneh's remedial plastic surgery should have been funded by the state and she should have been given psychological assistance during the years she has walked the hallways of dadgostari, trying to make her perpetrator blind.
Everything in this picture is wrong, and a reminder of the sad joke ideological rule is over any nation.
On Saturday, the devastated victim of a horrible crime will gauge another person's eyes and on Sunday, we will have one more criminal in our nation.
Human civilization is supposed to go forward and progress. This regression is appalling.

by Ali P. on Thu May 12, 2011 07:06 PM PDTاین مسئله اسید پاشی چندساله باب شده و باید قصاص سختی

by Ari Siletz on Thu May 12, 2011 06:37 PM PDTImagine people like the extremist rabbis in your recommended videos taking charge of a country. That's what we've got in Iran. Your interest in circumcision videos is your private business, but publicly coming across as saying Velayat Faghih is the best thing since human sacrifice is out of synch with where civilization is heading. Hopefully my conjecture about your position is mistaken or at least exaggerated.
Put some acid in Khamenei's eyes...
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Thu May 12, 2011 06:11 PM PDTif you advocate eye for an eye policy.
He as the leader of the islamist regime bears the ultimate responsibility for the abhorrent ideology which treats women as second class citizens, hence encouraging a culture where the crazed man feels morally justified in throwing acid into that woman's face.
Otherwise, speak out loud and clear against this barbaric, shamefull act of medieaval savagery, performed by the islamist state against it's pown citizens.

I'm not a fan of barbaric punishments however this will help in putting fear into any schmock who considers disfiguring a woman in the future, her life was ruined because of some chump's bruised ego, he deserves to be hung, no mater how barbaric this is justice for her and I'm glad she gets to have it.

Whatever they do...
by Ari Siletz on Thu May 12, 2011 04:24 PM PDT...the acid splashing crime is bound to the attitude that extremist Islamic societies encourage about women. Instituting modern punitive laws in an environment with a pre-modern mindset is a mismatch which may not serve justice. Crime and punishment should play out in the same cultural context. When it comes to the crime against the victim, the state is complicit in creating the conditions for it, but when it comes to the punishment (or deterrence methods) the state can't reasonably tell Ameneh Bahrami that it has suddenly taken a 14 century leap. Pretending to modern values should not be done at the expense of what the victim--in the context of her culture--experiences as justice. Bottom line, I agree with the qesas verdict in this case; the real tree to bark at is the misogyny inherent in extremist Islamic societies.
