by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun May 29, 2011 03:04 AM PDTI am being honest about what I felt. I did hate the Shah and I was mistaken. But did not participate in the revolution. Maybe I should have marched *for* the Shah; my mistake. I did support Bakhtiyar for all the good it did.
My family was pro Shah 100% and my grandmother cried the day he left Iran. I did not understand then but now I do. She was right and I was wrong. Does it make a difference? I don't know.
Therefore I guess I am in the same camp as some of your friends. I do regret is every day and night. If I could bring him back I would but we both know it is not possible. So what do we do next? No to MKO and no to VF; rather see Reza Pahlavi restored.
I agree with you Veiled prophet BUT
by dingo daddy En passant on Sun May 29, 2011 01:44 AM PDTI did not hate the Shah. People who hated the shah made the revolution possible, even if they did not go to the streets. Many of my good friends are in the same situation and they regret it now every day.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Fri May 27, 2011 02:17 PM PDTSee this is exactly the problem of "hero worship". I have always maintained that Dr. Mossadegh was a patriot. But he was a human and flawed like the rest.
You also need to stop using foul language about the Shah. When he was in power I hated him. I did not want a revolution because I was worried about the alternative. It happened that I was right! I thought Rastakhiz; changing the caldndar; Jashne Honar and many other of his ideas were plain idiotic. But on the whole he was good for Iran. And if we had kept him we would not have had an 8 year long war with Iraq. Nor would there be millions of us living outside of Iran.
I was going to go back and be a professor of Physics. Now I write software for some American company. Which would have been better for Iran? Shah is gone and not coming back. However we need to stop trashing him; learn and move on.

One could read Don De Lillo because he is a master Historical Novelist, not to mention a system-novelist. His work on JFK easily outranks many historical studies of that event.

If you hadread the article , carefully, once, it shows very convincingly that Montazeri gave the Fatwas to burn movie theaters, and Cinema Rex was burned as a consequence.
Parviz Sayad remains a top-star of Iranaian theater and drama. Read Jalal Al Ahmad's observations of Parviz Sayad's work in Sangalj theater. Al Ahmad call Sayad's youthful work as outstanding, he was right. We are going to find his play " Cinema Rex" adn post it here, soon.
On JFK read Don De Lillo novel " Libra." It was a free for all shooting gallery.

Blessed be his name. Both shah and khomeini did their best to crush Dr.Mohamad Mosadegh (RIP) and his historical legacy. History, so far has given both shah and khemeini a big fock you.
Mosadegh became Mosadegh by 30 Tir. As Biggy Small says: " And if you don't know, then you don't know, ...
You're being a bit retentive on regret. How the heck can you regret without remembering, the point is , are you going to be stuck in the past or move forward, you and the saltanti crowd are firmly anchored in your delusional 'past,' everyone else is moving forward, cheers
Cinema Rex
by Soosan Khanoom on Fri May 27, 2011 10:50 AM PDTThat tragedy could have worked well for any of the two sides involved. So it could be either one who had done it. There is no hard evidence and I lean more towards what people said at the time of that sad event ....
Up to this day still no one knows who killed JFK ... same with Rex tragedy ...
But then who shoot people from helicopters on 17 Shahreevar 1357 ?
Who have told to Azharee to go and check with his night vission goggle and find out that there was not a single soul up there on the roof and it was the tape player ?
Why is it so hard to understand that the revolution was a "Reaction" not an "Action" blame those who were in power back then ..
now the only thing that makes me wonder is
" Who saw khomeni's face on the moon " ? LOL
I wait for Samad Agha to come up with a play on that :)

by Mash Ghasem on Fri May 27, 2011 08:45 AM PDTVPK jan, regreting the past won't do squat for the future. Enlightening people on the mistakes of the past is the way to go forward.
Cinema Rex was one of the most evil, unimaginable, crimes committed by mullahs, that after 33 years it's still hard to belive how they pulled it off, and fooled an entire nation. The best essay in farsi on cinema Rex tragedy was published in the Journal " Chashm Andaz" ( published in Paris by Dr. Naser Pakdaman) written by Shida Nabavy. We've put it on the web, so that people could read about it and understand exactly what happend in there, and who was to blame. In this single case, you're correct my friend, it was not Shah's fault.

Of course I show my sorrow for those killed on 30th of Tir.
I do not want to see any one be "Shahid" or killed. That includes: Shahi; JM; Marxist; Greens; even the filthy Mollahs and holding my nose MKO. I would put them to good use cleaning toilets. However how about a poem about Cinema Rex? And a communal recognition of the wrong accusation made to the Shah. I for my part apologize for it even though I had nothing to do with it. I never blamed the Shah for it. But as an Iranian I show regret for all those killed in Cinema Rex. And those in Tir Mah as well. How about you?

How did Mossadegh get to power
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Fri May 27, 2011 01:40 AM PDTMuch is said about how Mossadegh was "Democratically" elected. I want to go over some history.
I am quoting from Wiki
"On March 7, 1951, Razmara went to a mosque for a memorial service. The police opened a corridor through the inner courtyard for the Prime Minister. The assassin, in the crowd, fired three quick shots, fatally wounding the Prime Minister. Khalil Tahmassebi, a member of the militant Islamic group Fadayan-e Islam, was arrested at the scene."
The second Iranian official to suffer at the hands of the assassins was Education Minister Dr. Abdul Hamid Zangeneh. Zangeneh was dean of Law at Tehran University and was not shy about voicing his opposition to oil nationalization. A few days later authorities uncovered the details of the plot to assassinate the Shah and other officials on the morning of the Persian New Year."
"In November 1952, the Parliament voted a full pardon for Tahmassebi. He was hailed as a hero and was granted an audience with Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh. Mossadegh barred photographers from the meeting."
In short Mossadegh got to power through several political assasinations. Then went on to pardon the murderer. Some "Democrat". In this the "National Front" was fully involved or at minimum approved it. This is not my idea of democracy.
Now go ahead and bash me. Or as many JM like to do just ignore the facts. The whole fiasco was due to Islamist / JM / Marxists / British / EU and Jimmy Carter "the Great Humanitarian" alliance which led to today's IRI. Thank you democrats! I still take the Shah over you any day and any time. *** you and your fake love for Iran which led to this. If you really loved Iran you would have supported Shapur Bakhtiyar not Khomeini. Now lets see how you wiggle out of this one ...

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Thu May 26, 2011 04:04 AM PDTBashing Pahlavi has become a pastime for some people. Many of them were sent to the West on Pahlavi scholarships just to show ingratitude. I hope people will learn to say thank you instead of biting their hand.
I always give credit where due. I have credit to NIAC and got bashed for it. I give 1000 times more credit to Pahlavi. Now go ahead and bash me. I am proud to have lived under the Shah regime.
No recent Iranian regime did more for Iran than Pahlavi. No rulers loved Iran more than Pahlavi. Yes Shah was very arrogant. But that is nothing compared to those who shamelessly bash him now.I take Shah over Iranian "Democrats" any day.

by shushtari on Wed May 25, 2011 09:47 PM PDTthat everyday, I read at least one or two items on this site, ridiculing the pahlavis.....
we are an ungrateful bunch for sure.....

did they have problems, for sure! did they make mistakes, of course!
but, REST ASSURED, the few years of peace and security which iran enjoyed would have NEVER happened if the mullahs have taken over after the qajars....
everything that you see in iran, it's foundations were likely laid by what reza shah did in a scant 25 years!
now, keep bashing the poor family, while iran is burning under the rule of the mullahs

Some of Irans Democrats can't see your important points VPK
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Wed May 25, 2011 06:53 PM PDTAs you noted, ridiculing or insulting the monarchy was a big factor in bringing the IRI to power and today in maintaining the IRI, with all the cruel injustices they are doing.
Iranians need to rally around the Flag and be United if they want to have a chance of breaking foreign domination, this can't happen with out the monarchy. Not realizing this big point, is why some iranian democrats are not aware they are supporting the IRI.
Here is some excellent clarification for the few, who see parallels and can be understanding enough to discover important lessons.
Coca Cola after 100 years of having a successful product, decided we want change, and in the 1980's proposed and implemented a change in their proprietary patented formula.
Fortunately, no one lost their freedom however when sales for the year dropped to less than 17% the previous years and the entire leadership that proposed the change and succeeded in bringing it about were all removed and fired the new ceo and leadership did something intelligent, smart, wise, mature, even surprising.
Can you use your imagination VPK, to guess what they did?
Okay I'll let it out of the bag, they brought back the old formula for success. After letting everyone know the new management had brought back the original formula, they once again restored their success and have been number one, ahead of pepsi for over 20 years since then.
Imagine tomorrow, Obama coming back from Europe decides, I think its time we as Americans change the Flag of the USA, lets come up with a new design, chances are the change wouldn't lead to better.
So what's the moral of the story for Iranians?
I think you all know and for the few of you who still can't bear to hear the truth it must be repeated, there is a big difference between an autocrat and a dictator and its in everyones interest that the character, freedom and dignty of the Shah that ordered his military to not fire on iranian citizens be restored, otherwise it will be very obvious to the younger Shah in DC, based on the willingness of Iranians, that now is not the time for him to risk his life freeing Iran and he will hold back until the people mature and figure things out on their own.
And so Tyranny will continue to reign, whether from mullahs or democrats indefinetly as a result of foreign propaganda and domination, until Iranians find the willingness to unite one day, with their original patented formula.
Javid Shah!!!!!!!

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed May 25, 2011 05:30 PM PDTdid more for Iran than all of you together. Including NIAC; PAIAA; IC and so on. All of you who trash Pahlavi: what did you do for Iran? Thankfully the people are waking up. Democracy my foot! Most of you are still throwing insults at each others. When Pahlavi ran Iran we were on our way to greatness. Now we are in the *** hole. Thanks to "revolution". And its shameless supporters.

Autocracy vs Democracy.
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Wed May 25, 2011 02:46 PM PDTSome people honestly believe Iranians, i their 3rd world situation, are capable of running a democracy to meet their own needs and become a competitive leading world power, like during the 1970's. I believe they while in a textbook sense they make sense, in practice and in reality they are wrong?
This was not how, Germany, France, UK, Japan, Spain, Italy or any other large country marched forward towards their democratic institutions.
Others, who saw the experience of the shah, who proved exactly how Iranians can be a world leader, progressive and free, believe Iran is capable of running an autocracy, to meet irans needs, while becoming a competitive leading world power.
The pro-autocracy Iranians of today are not aganst democracy, but wish to see irans culture evolve and institutions develop before they support democracy in government in place of autocracy. I believe in practice and in reality they are right.
I believe that autocracy as practiced by the shah and today as practiced by Russia, is serving the people of russia today and served the people of Iran in the 60's and 70's better than any alternative.
For me the case of a monarchy, with a representative parliament, an independent legal institution, and independent university institutions, will serve a 3rd world country like Iran towards progress and development far better than a democracy, as it already proved once before.
Tyrannical despotism, whether it arises in a democracy or in an autocracy is opposed by all sane people. Down with Dictatorship and the liars who brought us the islamic dictatorship after decades of freedom and peace during the time of the shah.

3 out of 5 (stars)
by Hafez for Beginners on Wed May 25, 2011 01:33 PM PDTThis was uncomfortably funny - I say "uncomfortable" as making fun of each other is just so destructive in our community, and we're much better at it than doing constructive things. Better at moaning, artfully so even, actually than building. I personally don't believe in being "born to govern" as don't those who created the United States - but just becuase I don't believe it, it doesn't mean I'm comfortable to make fun of it.
Hating something is much much easier, than putting your money where your mouth is and creating something. I'd give the video a 3 out of 5 stars - for creativity. Even Jon Stewart and his ilk, when making fun of something, are often comparing it with some other entity they are actually fond of. Our achiles heal: to stand up for anything, other than putting each other down.
Still, to go by my own mantra, I'd rather this video was out there - at least the guys is doing something, even if it reflects some of the dysfunctions of our community. 3 out of 5.
