Congratulation to him and all Iranians!
by Disenchanted on Mon Nov 14, 2011 06:32 PM PSTThis goes to show how important is the culture and continuity in achieving such goals. Clearly Iran has a line of champions in this domain that help train the next generation of champions. Extrapolate to other domains, like science, art, music etc!
I could only guess how much hard work, dedication and sacrifice goes into such huge achievements! If I may, I'd do w/o the theatrics!
I wish the 14 Saints had more interest in Football
by divaneh on Mon Nov 14, 2011 02:58 PM PSTAs the news teller claimed, it was the 14 saints (Aemeh Athar) who helped Salimi to get the title. I wish the 14 Saints would show some interest in Football that excites a much larger crowd. That way we would not struggle against little Sheikhdoms in the Persian Golf. Unfortunately they are interested in only one, and one, sport and that is weight lifting.
I wish to congratulate Salimi on his achievement.
Congrats to this champion

by Faramarz on Mon Nov 14, 2011 07:32 AM PSTWeightlifters have a completely different physique than other athletes. They don't have prominent muscles and are not necessarily cardiovascular fit, but they have a lot of strength. Their daily diet is comprised of 1000's and 1000's of calories.
Congradulations great job.
I tried this at home and I did not sucucceed !!!
by jasonrobardas on Mon Nov 14, 2011 07:23 AM PSTFirst I yelled "Ya Abalfazl", "Ya Hosseine Mazloom", "Ya shahide Karbala"....and then proceeded to lift a 500lbs weight , but I could not lift it, not even an inch .. . I wonder why??
Next time , I ll try "Ya Ghamare Bani Hashem"
Besides yelling "Ya Ali , Ya Khoda , Ya peighambar" , He should have been wearing a T-shirt with the religious message" when lifting .....He could easily become the next future head of the "Iranian federation of weight lifting", like rezazadeh........
man
