Re offence/defence
by Arj on Sat Nov 12, 2011 05:14 PM PSTThis indeed is terrible defence work, yet it doesn't mean that our offence is any better! Our main problem is lack of organization, be it in dfence, offence or midfield! Half our goals are scored by defenders. That should tell us something about misplaced priorities! And the goal we conceded was a rooky mistake, for we had two men in the wall, that means 8 players were free to press their men, yet four of them stood flat-footed in the penalty zone and watched the ball rebound from Rhmati and turn into a goal pass by the runaway Bahrainis! That kind of sloppy defence does not belong in Brazil, the offence however is a different story on its own! The lack of leadership is obvious in these two areas, while Teymourian and Nekoonam hold their own in the center pretty well!

WOw. So you are basically saying that this team is going to make it without any major glitches...Shortcomings...???:))
I enjoyed that Technical Breakdown... You go boy:)
I am just having a hard time imagining KHalatbari making such blunders!! I am used to thinking of him as the guy who runs the ball and takes care of Buisness upfront...
SO... should I contact TP or are you gonna take care of it... It is Petition Time babee;))

by Faramarz on Sat Nov 12, 2011 07:49 AM PSTAll the good work upfront! Are you joking?
If there is one serious problem with this team, it is the forward line.
The coach wants Ansarifard to be successful and gives him all the time on the field, but he lacks confidence. Actually Ghazi looks more dangerous but he is over 30 years old.
Khalatbari is basically a futsal player. He looks dangerous at times but he makes bad mistakes like the back pass that resulted in the foul and the first goal.
Rezaie has not been in form this season and definitely doesn't know how to shoot. He just throws his leg at the ball and prays.
The coach needs to convince Dejagah and Gucci to join the team for the next round when we face the likes of Korea or Japan.
Also, there was nothing wrong with the wall on the first goal. Bahrain had 5 players in the box ready to head the ball which needed to be covered. They had two free extra players around the ball which the two Iranian forwards were covering. And the goalie had a clear view of the 30+ meter shot. He should have punched the ball over the corner line instead of dropping it in front of the Bahraini players.

that has been one giant killer
by Dr. Mohandes on Sat Nov 12, 2011 03:18 AM PSTI agree with Arj.
That is the spot where we have been lagging behind in a major, Disastrous way. All the good work being done up at the front, could easily get wasted doing a lousy defensive job...
Taking on Japan and South Korea are not such impossible tasks. I think the guys get flustered or something when they go on the pitch against these guys...To me it all has to do with the psycology of the game... They lose their nerves / confidence level will be at its lowest.
Amateur defence!
by Arj on Fri Nov 11, 2011 08:30 PM PSTThe guy who fakes the free kick, makes the goal pass! Obviously they've practiced that and had predicted a sloppy regrouping of our defence, and ironically, we had only two men in the wall! May be we don't belong in Brazil after all! Even if we squeack by the third rate Asian tems like Bahrain and Qatar (as the commentator 'Khiabsani' joyfully hpoes), how is our shaky defense going to hold up against Japan and Korea, let alone the best of the world?!

Iran didn't take the game seriously
by Abarmard on Fri Nov 11, 2011 11:58 AM PSTIran was technically superior and it was clear that they did not treat Bahrain as a threat. This was a good example to take all games more seriously. Glad that they were able to dominate the game, even if the score doesn't show it. According to Iranian media, the grass and the field in Bahrain was not good and for that reason coach decided to tell his players to shoot long balls.
Generally I like what I see.
Iran’s Coach Learned a Lesson Today!
by Faramarz on Fri Nov 11, 2011 11:54 AM PSTAfter the 6-0 win in Tehran against Bahrain everything looked great and our coach Quiroz was dreaming about Brasil and the World Cup.
Not so fast!
His strategy today was to slow the game down and look opportunistic. Giving the talent level of the Iranian players vs. Bahrainis it all made sense and looked reasonable until Rahmati made that cardinal mistake.
A goalie should never touch the ball like that. You either can get the ball or you just punch it out. That’s what you learn as a kid. If you take a dive and stop the ball in front of the goal bad things will happen, as they did.
At this point Iran needs a win against Indonesia on Tuesday (4 AM Pacific) and a tie against Qatar on February 29th in Tehran to finish first in the group which is doable.
The surprise of the tournament so far has been the elimination of N. Korea and China.
Although a win would have been much more desired...

by Red Wine on Fri Nov 11, 2011 10:19 AM PSTبازیِ رفت را همین امروز دیدم (غیبتی بیش از ۲ ماه و عذر موجّه!)
