Iran was outplayed but also outcoached by U.S.A
by aynak on Sun Nov 27, 2011 08:49 PM PSTFirst I should say Iran has played better than my wildest dreams, and it is no shame losing to superior U.S team. U.S had studied Iranian team well, but same could not have been said about Iran's team in this case. Stanley was not as unstoppable as he seemed, just that our block coverage did not take him into account, and considering he is an all around player (not as good as Karch of course but very good), the coach did not appear to have prepared well.
Iran's blocking was dreadful in this game, and if we want to finish in top 6, we must do a lot better. We have very tough matches ahead. The coaches advice was "Play volleyball", I think he could have done better, for instance go single block outside and cover the inside with at least 2 blockers and tell them to go early. Of course it is easier watching on you tube. :)
Part of this very tight match schedule is really how well a team does day in day out. So 2 more wins would put us in a very good spot. A move from 14th spot to 6th or 5th would be an aweseome achivement.
The day is not over...

Good work any way
by choghok on Sun Nov 27, 2011 02:58 PM PSTWe should be thankful by their achievements which has surpassed everyone. I hope young iranian boys and girls be inspired by these players.
I always remain neutral in sport matches between the U.S & Iran
by Anonymous Observer on Sun Nov 27, 2011 01:30 PM PSTOne is my birth country and the other is my adopted country. Whoever wins is fine with me.
Damn it! This time they had no excuses for the loss!
by Disenchanted on Sun Nov 27, 2011 01:23 PM PSTTo fail at the critical moment is the Iranian sports' brand if not Iranian, period!
They defeated powerful teams prior to this only to fail miserably in front of the US! That shows the problem is in their HEADS! How many time Iran's soccer got eliminated in the last qualifyng match over the last penalty kick in front of a team no one gave a chance to beat Iran?!
No wonder the anti-Iranian sentiment is so strong on this site!
I would have all the players' heads examined. This defeat is psychological. I am mad as hell! :-)
Receiving problems!
by Arj on Sun Nov 27, 2011 01:14 PM PSTThe bulk of our problem is in receiving, as it was evident against strong serving teams such as the U.S. and Cuba. Once we overcome that weakness, nothing can stop us!
obviously

"They bested us in all aspects of the game"
by Truthseeker9 on Sun Nov 27, 2011 11:40 AM PSTThen they deserved to win. Good sportsmanship from Iranians to admit this so they can improve their game and win next time round.
'Of'' irony and sport (as Pendar would say)
by Simorgh5555 on Sun Nov 27, 2011 11:03 AM PSTSo the IR athletes agree to play with the USA but boycott Israel? This is the same USA which according to their version of history installed a puppet dictator and his son in Iran; a country which toppled a 'democratically elected' prime minister; a country which exploited Iran for its oil and whose 'puppet' Shah used his petrol dollars to buy military hardware and thus boosting the American industrial military complex; whose country blew up an Iranian civilian passenger plane in 1988 flying over the Persian Gulf; a country which was found by European settlers committing genocide against native Americans and where slavery of Africans was legal; a country whose secretary of state promised to anihilate Iran?
When it comes to Israel the Iranian athletes either under duress or choice will not even shake hands with an Israeli sportsman but when it comes to America, "VEEEE LOVE AMERIKA WE DO NOT LOVE GOVERNMENT". Just admit it: Its all JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW HATE.
When the Iranian athlete refuses to play with an Israeli athlete, its not the suffering of Palestinians which comes to mind (a people whio have been exploited for political means) but when his mother told him "IN JIVIDAAAA NAJEESAN. AGAR BARUN BIYAD NAZDIKE JIVIDE NARI CHON KE AZ NEJASATESH ALUDE MISHI". The bigoted 'anti-Zionist' who is really a Jew Hater cannot hide his disgust when his body makes contact with a Jew and that is the only reason he refuses to play with an Israeli. It has nothing to do with Israel's policies but his own personal prejudices otherwise he would boycott American or even Bahraini athletes first.
For any Iranian athlete who consciously and voluntarily refuses to play with his Israeli counterpart he deserves nothing but contempt and I'm glad to cheer on any opponent who plays with him. Sport has no place for hypocrites.
Marg bar Amrika!
