Dear VKP

You again :)  I have in no position or have any desire to present or support a specific religion.  If I had a strong stand in a specific religion I would have practiced and promoted my own opinion.  The only thing that I remember from Islam is those elderly grandfathers and grandmothers who wake up early in the morning to pray wishing to end their life soon or with no trouble.  I am sure other religions do the same in their own words.

I don't remember IRI or Arab worlds when I hear Islam.

As I indicated Sigheh sounds normal when other subjects including incest are not discovered or reported in Iran.  Sometimes totally different subjects could associate.  Sometimes we should associate subjects with a very different one to widen our perspectives. 

p.s. You really think when I write something there are some correlations with your comments.  I am not going to stop writing in the same wall that you write!  I have a biopolar disorder.  What do you have?  :)

I am no fan of Islam or Sigeh. But your link is about incest which is totally different. You are implying that Iranians practice incest. This is wrong; and a slander against Iranians.

Despite its faults Islam does not allow incest and actively prohibits it. When you make claims that are plainly wrong you discredit yourself.

Blame Islam for what it does. But not for what is prohibits. Here are Islamic rules prohibiting incest.

I am still not a Muslim; do not like Islam. But we don't hear news about Iranians doing incest because they don't do it. At least not legally either under Shah or Islamic law. 

Not a big deal if we hear all...

Sigeh II

There is another reason for it. That is to allow intermixing of people of different classes. Many times you have a man who has a maid. The man is living alone and the maid is female and an older woman.

But in Iranian society it is not acceptable to have a stranger woman live with a guy. Therefore sigeh allows a way to legitimize the relationship. My grandfather was very much in love with my grandmother. But she passed away and he needed a maid. He got an older woman to do the house chores. He did not want another wife because he only loved his real wife. I really do not think my grandfather and the maid had any sexual relation. But he had to sigeh her.

This allowed her to work for him without any rumors. No problems; no one in family made a fuss and it was really the only option he had.

Re: legal prostitution

You realize that prostitution is the oldest profession. Might as well make it legal don't you think? As much as I do not like Islam at least they are honest. The only problem is that they discriminate against women.

If sigeh was equal for both men and women then I have no problem with it. Really better to be honest and over the table. Instead of pushing it into the back allies. With it you know what to do if there is a pregnancy. How to regulate it and manage it.

Now if they just did the same for drugs; alcohol and other so called vices. Then you get what you got in Netherlands. Which sure beats the alternatives. By the way I find prostitution disgusting. I have no interest in it and will never hire one.

sigheh = Islamic sanctioned prostitution. period

If the purpose of sigheh was to take care of sexual desires,

* why do men only pay (assumes that women have no desires!)?

* why should men only have several partners?  No nympho... or cougars in 7th century?

* why should any parties pay if mutually agreed to.....?

* why does a few valahlahlah lines make a difference between a sigheh and a mutually agreed date or prostitution?

Legalized prostitution

is another name for sigheh, or temporarly marriage. Islam is the only religion that legalizes prostitution.

The core issue on the subject of "temporary marriage" is the rights of off-spring(s) born to such marriage ( the subject of institutionalization of prostitution is obviously there, too ).............No laughing matter there.......
