This is a historical conflict. Ayesha's behavior is only an excuse. He is talking about events of 14 centuries ago with such absolute certainty as if he actually trusts what he reads.

Also this good-for-nothing Mullah believes, through the repression of women--half the population of the country--and treating them as second-class citizens, they can prolong their primitive and murderous existence.
