"kisses"
by Hafez for Beginners on Wed Aug 08, 2012 03:42 PM PDTGhormeh Sabzi: Thanks for the post, again. Ba ejazeh responding a little note to Ari, here.
Ari: You're welcome... Isn't that article hysterical?? (pasting again below) For those who haven't seen it - USA TODAY contrasting Salimi with Bolt. "Strongest Man vs. Fastest Man"
Bolt on his fans: "For me crowd pleasing is a very important part of my races."
Salimi on his fans: "I send kisses to all of them."
//www.usatoday.com/sports/olympics/london/wei...
I love the idea of big, muscular athletes - talking of wanting to send "kisses"... Thanks again for the link to the fans, Ghormeh Sabzi.
Congratulation to these ATHLETIC Iranian GREATS!
by P_J on Wed Aug 08, 2012 03:20 PM PDTTheir accomplishment is unsurpassed.
Distinction should be made between these athletes and the government they represent, whether it is the IslamoFacist government of Akhounds, or the Tyrannical regime of Pahlavi.
They deserve ALL the accolade coming to them and some, for their hard work in achieving great accomplishments.
We should be proud of these GREAT Iranians athletes/citizens that in the face of all the negative HOSTILITY, stood their GROUND with HONOR and CLASS keeping heir heads high in representing their BELOVED Motherland!
Caught Red Handed!
by Demo on Wed Aug 08, 2012 03:06 PM PDT"I swear to god. i had never witnessed this much control and opression in my life."
Mockery of GOD over there & swearing to him over here!
Yep. It is kosher alright!
Delighted!!
by Ari Siletz on Wed Aug 08, 2012 11:52 PM PDTHFB: Thanks for the link to the fun USA Today piece on Salimi v. Bolt.
In this spirit..."With a winning time of 9.63, Bolt could outrun a cheetah." Nope! Sarah the cheetah dashed the 100 meters just a few weeks ago in 5.95 seconds. Though skeptics say she "cheetahed" :)
Yet..."With a winning lift of 544.5 pounds, Salimi could clean and jerk the entire American women's all-around gymnastics team." Yep! (not counting alternates in the team).
congratulations to all of them....

Celebrating what?
by Dr. Mohandes on Wed Aug 08, 2012 02:39 PM PDTSome people seem to have really gone crazy out of sheer excitment.
Dudes. These athlete's houses are being watched like a hawk. Why do you think they broadcast every single main event , with potential for bringing home a medal out of every one of these guys' homes?
I swear to god. i had never witnessed this much control and opression in my life.
Yep. they are celebrating alright.
fans and mammad boughi
by Hafez for Beginners on Wed Aug 08, 2012 02:26 PM PDTLovely. Thanks for the post. I always enjoy the "Mammad Boughi" scenes with fans. USA Today had a great article on "Strongest Man (Salimi) vs. Fastest Man (Bolt)" - even though the US media has really not covered this very well, at all. (4 hours of watching NBC on TV - no mention of Iran's "Stronest Olympian" Gold) Still... the USA Today article is hysterical - and I'm attaching a quote that relates well to this clip, with all the fans:
USA TODAY: "Strongest Man (Salimi) vs. Fastest Man (Bolt):
"When Bolt won, it seemed as if half the world was watching.
When Salmi won, it seemed as if half of Iran was in the weighlifting venue."
many more funny comments in the USA Today article:

And there's nothing like Iranian people, happy and proud, dancing, making noise and celebrating in the streets to scare the bejesus out of mullahs.
Power to the people, dancing in the streets.

by R2-D2 on Wed Aug 08, 2012 01:52 PM PDTThere are many amongst us who believe that Sport Transcends Politics -
I've personally followed Iran's Olympic participations going all the way back to the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City - I've always chersihed and supported our Champions and Athletes - Whether it was under the Shah, or now under the Mullahs -
Hopefully, and God willing, we will get a number of other Golds in the free-style wrestling, and perhaps even in Taekwondo -
Again, Thank You For Your Regular And Wonderful Videos And Reports -
