I am still disappointed
by vildemose on Sun Feb 12, 2012 08:23 AM PSTI am still disappointed at why NIAC et al were not invited??? If toudehi and ex-toudhi were present then why not NIAC and CASMII?

by vildemose on Sun Feb 12, 2012 08:21 AM PSTDidn't Khomeini and his entourage hailed from Iraq and Chateau Neauphle in exile?? Wasn't khomeini the one who was asking world leader's help in exile to overthrow the late Shah??
Khomeini asking the world to help him: Very telling:

Thank you Shohreh for yet another great interview
by aynak on Sun Feb 12, 2012 08:06 AM PSTDear Shohreh,
I like to thank you for the excellent job you do in your very informative and enjoyable interviews. Your non-hostile and yet very persistant style of questions, I find very enjoyable and to the point. Please keep up the great work of informing us. Its only after receiving sufficient information about a subject that we can make a proper judgment and form an opinion, and you are doing well in getting the information across.
Fast becoming a big fan!

Bada Bing, Bada Boom!
by Faramarz on Sat Feb 11, 2012 07:00 PM PSTAfter you cut through all the smoke and the mirrors here, the attendees agreed on what they want; a secular, democratic government.
Fine. We all love apple pie and motherhood.
But the real challenge is how to get there; reform from within, sanctions, help from the outside, all or none of the above.
Thank you Shohre Asemi. Great interview and excellent follow through.
But as a reality check, the academics and the democracy workshops are not going to save Iran and the Iranians from this brutal Regime.
Bunch of traitors want to be the next chalabi.

Iranian Barbara Walters?
by choghok on Sat Feb 11, 2012 06:05 PM PSTShe is as annoying and clueless as Walters. Just what kind of person will ask a host about budget of gathering? And what kind of reporter talks about her own opinion all the time?
And they should both know that Olof Palme has been dead since long a go and they made this organization in his memory.

SAVAK used to torture and murder people. They used to flog, gauge
eyes out, nails out and that was on 14 year olds. But hey, that's OK on
IC. Because if I call the chief of SAVAK "kesafat", I get my account
deleted , by some horror of a personage bigotry-jealousy-lalaland.
Watched and listened to the whole interview
by iraj khan on Sat Feb 11, 2012 03:23 PM PSTI found it informative.
Althogh, the interviewee was interrupted rudely, over and over again, by Ms. Shohreh. She was probably upset for not being invited to the meeting, I guess.

by Bavafa on Sat Feb 11, 2012 02:01 PM PSTDue to lack of sincerity and openness by him in this interview. Even Gingrich or AN doesn’t dodge questions as good as he does but Miss. Asemi did a great job in this interview.

Overall a good program... BUT I see no hope in the near future.
by Mohammad Ala on Sat Feb 11, 2012 11:01 AM PSTSeveral observations and recommendation to our problem(s). Once again, the issue of Bogus people came up why it is important to build trust.
Dr. Hessami said… several disturbing statements, e.g.,… az Khuestan Arabha omadeh badondand!!! And Mrs. Asemi asked questions that no one would know, e.g., conference budget!!!
Once again personal attacks and lynching which have gone on IC came up… digging personal information by bogus people and attacking “real” people would not get us anywhere which it has not in the past 50 years.
I agree with most of what Kako DK has stated. Opposition groups are good at criticizing but not offering a solution workable for Iran’s situation.
Recommendations/Solutions: (1) place national interest(s) ahead of your personal and/or your organization’s interest(s). This is a must. (2) Be accountable for what you say or do rather than hiding and attacking “real” people. (3) Care for Iran’s heritage (language, arts, etc.) and its environment and the creatures that live in it.
As IC has proven and what I have experienced in Iran, I see no hope in the near future.

by JustAnIranian on Sat Feb 11, 2012 09:15 AM PSTI googled some of these names too.
I think it is good that they are finally talking, BUT names like Mohsen Sazgara scare the hell out of me.
I just can't help but think: what 'Aash' is this monster cooking for us?
Vildemose Jan Not necessarily
by Darius Kadivar on Sat Feb 11, 2012 09:56 AM PSTI googled most of the names and some are regular guests on VOA Persian either academics, students or Journalists and others who were former revolutionaries or political activists or prisoners either before or after the revolution. There are a few monarchists amongst them but for the most they are Jomhurykhahs.
Most come across as White Collars or intellectuals and not what I would call folks ready to take arms and enter a guerrilla fight against the IRI as lets say the Syrian Transitional Council or the Libyan One ...
So I don't quite see what is the big deal or controversy about this not so secret gathering.
I think it is a commendable initiative to have people of different backgrounds and opinions gather around to talk to eachother but I don't see how this represents a serious threat to the IRI ...
At least not at this stage.
It just seems that many still have Personal Egos on why one was invited and not another.
The way they have been handling this doesn't come across as very professional though.
It's No wonder NIAC comes across as serious and professional in comparison when it comes to organizational skills and Public Relations.
Pity Trita Parsi doesn't have the same goals ...
But then who is to blame for the state of the current IRI Opposition if not ourselves ? ...
So all this comes across as a genuine and sincere attempt for some form of concensus or dialogue across the political spectrum of the Iranian Diaspora let alone active opposition but it is still very amateurish in terms of organization and communication.
But well small drops can turn to oceans and I guess it never hurts to participate in such gatherings if one can do so. But it takes time to turn such initiatives into a more dynamic and active opposition force to be counted for.
My Humble Opinion,
DK
DK jan: are they all
by vildemose on Sat Feb 11, 2012 08:31 AM PSTDK jan: are they all reformists??
I don't know most of them.
