rahana: Mostafa Daneshjoo is a lawyer who has defended many prosecuted Gonabadi Nematollahi Dervishes during the severe crackdown on the group over the past six years. Security forces arrested Daneshjoo in his law offices in Tehran on 18 May 2011, and first transferred him to Intelligence Ministry's Ward 209 at Evin Prison and after two days to Sari Prison in Mazandaran Province. Daneshjoo's family were not informed about his whereabouts for four days.
Earlier, Daneshjoo had filed a complaint with judicial authorities about the illegal conduct of government officials and the Intelligence Ministry against his clients. But his judicial case was never reviewed. Instead, when the Intelligence Ministry pressed charges against Daneshjoo and two other lawyers representing the Gonabadi Nematollahi Dervishes, he was sentenced to seven months in prison on the charge of "publishing falsehoods," and "creating public anxiety." Daneshjoo's appeal request for this verdict was fruitless and the Mazandaran Appeals Court upheld his sentence.
Daneshjoo has been transferred to several different prisons and wards during his detention, kept in solitary confinement, in Sari Drug Addicts Camp, in Tehran's Evin Prison's Ward 209, and is currently inside Evin Prison's General Ward (350).

How can we all effectively fight this fascist regime?
by ahosseini on Sun Jan 01, 2012 05:45 PM PSTAll Iranian opposition groups and individuals are equally suppressed in a brutal way. We should all unite around the following two issues:
1) Fighting the suppressive policies of IRI
2) Calling for a free election
Let's all unite and fight in an organised way.
Believe in a democracy that leaders and representatives are controlled by members at all times.
his crime? "being a lawyer, defending his client"!!!!

by Bavafa on Sun Jan 01, 2012 08:03 AM PSTWhen Iran is free from this tyranny, we will owe it all to these brave bunch.
They are the ones that have put their money where their mouth is, principal over personal gain, and have been fighting for their own rights and the rights of their neighbor.
A demand for their immediate and unconditional freedom is a duty of all Iranian freedom seekers.
My hats off to yek-yeke in mobarez
