Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim Dabbagh: Prisoner of the day

15-year sentence for "filming protests"

rhairan: Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim Dabbagh, is an ordinary citizen who does not have any political activities in her background.

On 27 December 2009, Ashura Day, Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim was a guest at the home of Daneshpour family when she was arrested along with her hosts and another guest. The Daneshpour family has a son at Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim Dabbagh was transferred to solitary cells inside Intelligence Ministry's 209 Ward at Evin Prison. The Tehran Revolutionary Court charged Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim with "participating in protests," and "sending photographs and films of protest demonstration abroad and to the MEK," and sentenced her to death. Branch 53 of Tehran Appeals Court later reduced Rayhaneh Haj Ebrahim's sentence to 15 years in prison in exile at Rajaee Shahr Prison in Karaj.

She has been at Rajaee Shahr Prison since November 2010.

It is not of a surprise when filming and documenting regimes crime gets severe punishment but in a system when the government is of the people and by the people, the punishment should belong to those who committing the crime and not those who are investigating them.

 We owe these brave bunch our support for their immediate and unconditional freedom.
