More Medals on the Way!
by Faramarz on Mon Aug 06, 2012 08:28 AM PDTThis morning, in 60 Kg Greco-Roman wrestling, Omid Haji Noroozi defeated his opponents and mad it to the final against a Georgian opponent. The final will be at 10:46 am today. Go Omid!
Iran’s other two Greco-Roman wrestlers, 84 Kg Habibollah Jomeh Akhlaghi and 120 Kg Bashir Asgari Babajanzadeh Darzi (what’s with the long names!) were eliminated.
In Discus Throw, Ehsan Haddadi threw for 65.12 meters and qualified for the finals tomorrow (starting at 11:45 am). He has a reasonable chance at a Bronze.
In 800 meter, Sajad Moradi made it to the next round with a time of 1:48:23 which is around 3 seconds slower than the main medal contenders.
In Women’s Shot Put, Iran’s Leyla Rajabi (formerly Tatsiana Ilyushchanka of Vitebsk, Belarus) threw for 17.55 meters and was eliminated. What can I tell you about those imports!
Ahmadreza Talebian was also eliminated in 1 Km Single Kayak.
Later on this morning in 105 Kg Weightlifting, Navab Nasirshelal will take the stage (starting at 11 am).
Games are live on EuroSport and Aljazeera Sports. NBC sucks!
