DPA: Journalist Ferdos Forudastan is spokeswoman for President Joachim Gauck. She begings her job, according to the presidential office, on 1 September.
Forudastan in recent years was a writer and presenter for radio and WDR Germany and a columnist for the "Frankfurter Rundschau". Previously, she was among other things, a correspondent of the "tageszeitung".
She has written several books on the topics of migration and integration and is involved in the training of journalists from immigrant families.
Forudastan was born in 1960 to a German mother and an Iranian father and grew up in Freiburg in Switzerland, in Iran and Germany. She is married to Michael Vesper, director general of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DSB) and former Green Party politician and deputy prime minister of North Rhine-Westphalia.
