HRANA: Nasour Naghipour, a Qazvin journalist and human rights activist, was arrested when he appeared at Evin Prison Court yesterday and was transferred to Evin's Ward 350 to commence serving his sentence. Naghipour's seven-year prison sentence was upheld by a Tehran Province appeals court earlier.
Nasour Naghipour was initially arrested on March 2, 2010 and was transferred to the Intelligence Ministry's Ward 209 at Evin Prison. Though Naghipour was not a member of the Human Rights Activists network, he had designed the website for HRANA. He spent 110 days in a solitary cell inside Ward 2-A, and was released on June 20, 2010 on bail of $100,000.
Branch 26 of Tehran Revolutionary Court under Judge Pirabbasi sentenced Naghipour to seven years in prison on charges of "membership in the Human Rights Activists group," and "propagating against the regime." His sentence was upheld in its entirety by the Tehran Province Appeals Court.
Nasour Naghipour, 29, was an Information Technology student and a freelance researcher in the fields of philosophy and political thinking. He managed a website dedicated to archiving Farsi articles in the field of humanities. Nasour Naghipour is a well-known figure among Iran's blog sphere experts, and has made valuable contributions to development of quality Farsi content on the Internet and Farsi blogging.
Nasour Naghipour was among a large number of Iranian civil society activists who were arrested and imprisoned in the crackdown on the Human Rights Activists network in the aftermath of the 2009 presidential elections.

Iranians of all walks of life taking a stand for their freedom and just rights. They are to be commanded and supported by all freedom loving folks.
Iranians need to stand united in their support for these brave souls, support their goals and aspiration for a free independent and prospers Iran.
Foreign nations which thru their apartheid policy practice the same insanity and unjust detentions cannot be a good example for the future of Iran and need not to apply.
