If I myself or a family member of mine were in this situation, I would pick up the phone and call my congressman/woman/senator and say hey yo, I voted for you and I am a law-abiding tax-paying American! Why am I not being allowed to enter my country?

I would not get the American Muslim or Jewish or Baha'i or Zartoshti associations involved, period! Unless, I think my religion is more important than my country!?

Of course, If I am an American only in name and in the context of having just a passport and I don't vote, and I don't have any loyalty to my country of citizenship, then, of course, I would call my Muslim whatever association!

It is being an extremist = having anti-secular views, that is not considered an asset. 

Both Jews and Christians have their extremists too, there is no better or worse extremist they all show the same symptoms. 

As you know in our Iranian culture, the king is a jew, a christian, a muslim, a bahai, a budhist, a zoroastrian and a member of all religions etc, he is the national leader of all relgions and can not discriminate against any.  He must honor each religions traditions and celebrations as the first member.

Religion is free and can not be intervened in by government and no religion can interfer in government either. This has worked well in producing peace for over 2500 years, no one can change another through government or be changed by another through government power.  Independent from each other and government, separate and with total freedom, within the limits of the law.  The trouble is this national tradition, used through dynasties, started by cyrus, has not been honored in the last 300 years, with the exception of the last 2 Pahlavi kings who honored our Iranian pre-islamic culture.
