Hamid Reza Moradi: Prisoner of the day

In critical condition and lacking medical attention

Majzooban-e Noor Website: Hamid Reza Moradi Sarvestani, an imprisoned Dervish, was transferred from Evin Prison to Tehran's Modarres Hospital on Tuesday morning.

According to Majzooban-e Noor reporters, this is the second time in one month that this Gonabadi Dervish was transferred to Modarres Hospital for kidney pain and complications. Hamid Reza Moradi, who has spent more than seven months in detention, was returned to prison on Tuesday after security forces refused to allow his hospitalization. Prison forces also prevented his family from visiting with him in the hospital, keeping them from getting close to him.

Moradi's family told Majzooban-e Noor that Moradi is in critical condition and lack of medical attention by prison authorities and their refusal to allow his hospitalization have put him under grave risk. According to his family, Moradi has been suffering from this condition for a long time and prison infirmary staff have not provided proper medical care for him, only giving him painkiller shots in lieu of proper medical treatment.

Another imprisoned Gonabadi Dervish, Reza Entesari, was also transferred from Evin Prison to a hospital on Tuesday to seek treatment for his broken arm. Following X-rays and examinations, Entessari was also transferred back to Evin Prison's Ward 350. Reza Entessari's arm was seriously injured during the 3 September 2011 raid by intelligence forces on the offices of Majzooban-e Noor website which led to his arrest. Entessari needs urgent surgery.
