Zabihollah Bagheri: Prisoner of the day

Steel worker arrested

Committed of Human Rights Reporters -- On the threshold of the International Labor Day, and as Iranian labor activists are again not allowed to commemorate May Day, another labor activist was arrested in Isfahan on Thursday, 26 April. News sources reported that on his way out of the factory, Zabihollah Bagheri, a labor activist from Mobarakeh Steel Plant in Isfahan, was first summoned by the plant's Security Unit, and then transferred to an unknown location by three plainclothes forces.

According to this report, during recent months, after Bagheri attended a protest gathering with a group of other workers in the plant who had gathered to protest their postponed wages and pay, he was summoned to the Security Unit along with two other factory workers, where the workers were threatened and reprimanded.

Reasons for Zabihollah Bagheri's arrest, his detention location, and his fate are unknown at this time.

Previously, Zabihollah Bagheri was arrested in December 2009 during the mourning ceremonies of Grand Ayatollah Montazeri, and was released a few days later.

This year labor and union activists were again unable to secure permits for their planned International Labor Day ceremonies.

May your jailers and persecutors be destroyed by an Israeli bomb. Inshallah.

Labor activists have been one of the main forces behind this struggle against tyranny in Iran and so many of these activists are paying a hefty price, not only for lack of proper system which should protect their work and livelihood but also to create and atmosphere so they can demand and seek better negotiation in their work place.

These are our future and the future of Iran and they deserve our full support and a sustain campaign for their immediate and unconditional freedom.

My salute to each and every one of these brave bunch.
