Reuters: Iranian warplanes fired at an unarmed U.S. drone in international airspace last week but did not hit the aircraft, the Pentagon said on Thursday, disclosing details of an unprecedented incident that triggered a formal warning to Tehran through diplomatic channels. The November 1 intercept was the first time Tehran had fired at an unmanned American aircraft, in a stark reminder of how tensions between the United States and Iran could escalate quickly into violence. Pentagon spokesman George Little said the aircraft fired multiple rounds at the Predator drone and followed it for at least several miles as it moved farther away from Iranian airspace >>>

by Faramarz on Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:08 AM PSTThe one who shot the bullets at the defenseless drone over the international waters was the Regime thugs.
The one who is killing the Iranians every day is the Regime.
And the one who is going to get his a$$ kicked is the Regime and its lobbyists.
Thank you Judge Bates and the American legal system!
Please say thank you on behalf of the Iranian-American community to Senators Kirk and Menendez.
To ignorant man from Pentagon. It is PERSIAN GULF

Please correct your speech when you talk about our Persian Gulf. It has always been Persian Gulf and will always be PERSIAN GULF.. ...
Hey, I thought you guys
by masoud5 on Fri Nov 09, 2012 01:22 PM PSTHey, I thought you guys have sewn your lips and are on strike to bring back rest of your gangs. What happened?
Iran says they have violated Iran's air space.
Hapoo,
If US would give a damn about what you say, that would have been a fair assumption, but you know even if US neighbors did ask, US would not let such a thing happen. Besides, who the hell are Iran's neighbors to jeopardize Iran's security?
What happened to all that anti Arab rants? Oh, Arabs are good now?
I knew there is something fishy about you!!!
What happened to your self portrait anyway?
Good job IRAN

by iraj khan on Fri Nov 09, 2012 09:19 AM PSTRead how their comments show their wishful thinking,
how their mouth is watering while praying for a war:
'maybe, only maybe' U.S. would attack Iran, Please! could it happen? something that we've been waiting for the last 34 years..it's all Carter's fault..'
Advocating for a new war in the Middle East, that would result in more hunger, more destruction, more refugees but this time involving Iranian people.

and reason, and said: "who is superior to us in strength?" what!? did they not see that GOD, who created them, was superior to them in strength? but they continued to reject our signs!" (Quran 41:15)

A message has been delivered to the Swiss embassy in Tehran that there will be a response if this happens again.
What the Regime is gambling on is a minor scrimmage with the US in the Persian Gulf and then have its lobbyists in the US to cry, " there is going to be a devasting war and a major hike in the oil prices", and subsequently a push for negotiations and the lifting of the sanctions. That will not happen. The Regime is completely cornered and the sanctions are here to stay.
The only way out for the Regime is to not only stop all enrichment activities, but also to walk away from its three core principles which are no human rights for the Iranians (including hejab), "marg-bar-Amrika" and "marg-bar-Esraeil."
At which point, the Islamic Republic as we know it ceases to exist.
The key thing here is a promise of a response
by Anonymous Observer on Fri Nov 09, 2012 07:37 AM PSTand response the IR shall receive. Just like they did in Operation Praying Mantis.

by Fesenjoon2 on Fri Nov 09, 2012 07:25 AM PSTYes it would be OK, if the US's neighbors had asked Iranian navy for protection against US, and if Iran had hundreds of billions of dollars of assets and interests to protect near the coastal waters of the US.
Warmongering Islamists??
by Demo on Fri Nov 09, 2012 07:20 AM PSTIs not it strange how this was kept quiet until after the elections, if it really had happened on Nov. 1 per the report? But not too strange if one remembers that Obummer's top adviser Valerie Jarred is also an Iranian-Israeli, working hard to keep her own job by making Obummer stay in power for his 2nd term. You got milk now, Fred?
PS: Romney was no Reagan to become President by just a 'firing at a drone' incident. Whereas 'the hostage crisis' took more than 450 days for Reagan to win the election!
Would that be OK If Iran
by masoud5 on Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:50 AM PSTWould that be OK If Iran had sent navy to international waters near Us and Europe and flew the air space? We know what happens, if you did that in international waters near Israel.
Pathetic face saving publicity stunt for khamenei.
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Fri Nov 09, 2012 07:05 AM PSTPeople, dont be fooled!
This is a carefully orchestrated and mutualy agreed exercise by both sides to lessen the public humiliation of Khamenei, for giving in to every single US demand on Nuclear issue and the rest. There are going to be a few more of these "incidents" over the next year.
Behind the scene, every single thieving, murdering faction within the islamist regime are falling over themselves in their rush to capitulate to US and take the credit for "making peace" with the "great satan"...
As always, the national interests and independence of Iran, is least of these corrupt, thieving , murdering Islamo fascists concerns.

Fired Upon with Guns!
by Faramarz on Fri Nov 09, 2012 06:01 AM PSTThe Regime doesn't even have air-to-air missiles so the pilot has to open the window, stick his gun out and then shoot a few bullets at the slow-moving drone!
Not the best way to do, "marg-bar-Amrika!"

2. Ever heard of GPS?
3. Hate seeing Persian Gulf getting erased from maps? Well then maybe you should think twice before thinking things like "wiping Israel of the map".
What an idiot!!!
by Benyamin on Fri Nov 09, 2012 04:35 AM PSTIf this guy doesn`t know where his plain had been flying over then how can he say with any certainty that the mentioned plain was never over Iranian territory?
Arabian gulf= is an unknown name or entity. I advice "Pentagone" to be more clear!!!
