Melbourne University researcher Behnaz Heydarchi is part of a team that has found cows could be used to produce antibodies that defend against HIV virus.
Daily Mail: Researchers found that cows could be used to produce antibodies that defend against the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The animals can't contract the disease themselves.
The next step will be to develop it into a cream which women can apply to protect themselves from contracting HIV from sexual partners.
A team from Melbourne University worked with Australian biotechnology company Immuron Ltd to develop the milk.
The scientists, led by Dr Marti Kramski, vaccinated pregnant cows with an HIV protein and studied the first milk that cows produced after giving birth.
The first milk, called the colostrum, is naturally packed with antibodies to protect the newborn calf from infections. The vaccinated cows produced HIV antibodies in their milk >>>

by Aarash4545 on Fri Oct 26, 2012 06:48 PM PDTThere's nothing new about this wrok. Dairy cows have been vaccinated to improve their antibody levels for quite a long time. The colostrum from these cows is called "hyper-immune colostrum' and has found many applications in functional foods and pharmaceuticals as its immunoglobulin level is very high. This product has been used for the last two decades in boosting immune system in HIV patients and the like.
What this team is claiming is cashing on the hard works of other scientists in Australia and elswhere, and what they're offering is just 'snake oil' !!! nothing less!
