by Majid on Thu Apr 09, 2009 10:54 PM PDTI'm glad you enjoyed it buddy.
Each one of us kids had at least one of those "mean neighbors"...LOL
I know what little "ghomboli" part you're talking about, that was the point that air was injected into the ball and then melted together when they were made, and you're right, getting hit on the face with that little "ghomboli" was a bitch.......THEN !!
I wish I could go back to those days and get hit several times.....TODAY!
If I was JJ I would re-publish this photo essay once a year !!

by jamshid on Thu Apr 09, 2009 09:44 PM PDTThanks for the link to this blog buddy! It brought back so many old memories. To answer your question from the other blog, yes, these were EXACTLY the same balls kids played shoot ye zarb with!
Aren't they lovely?
When we bought them new, they smelled good too! Really, I am not joking!
The first thing I remembered when I saw the pictures was the times that I had to go over people's wall to get our ball back!
We had a mean neighbor that would crush the ball and throw it back at us when we accidently kicked it in his yard.
One other thing I remember is that one side of the ball had a small ghomboli that you can actually see it in the first picture on the inner ball. It wasn't pleasant to be hit by that side of the ball in the face!
Those were the days!

I can't let it go
by Majid on Tue Feb 12, 2008 04:51 PM PSTI keep going back and forth to these photos, and simply I can't let it go !
WHAT a great subject you chose my friend !
So simple YET so touching !
THIS is what I call ART !!
A camera and a 5 Zaari toop, and so many memories you brought back !
Great job Mehran.
It was always.....5 Zaar
by Majid on Wed Apr 08, 2009 08:54 PM PDTThe price of this "MARVEL " toy of our childhood was always 5 zaar, when it was jumped to " ye toman ", we had to pitch in to be able to afford it.
I remember when we bought it new it was so full of air and bouncy we had to make a "soorakh soozani " in it to let the air out but not too big of a hole that the ball becomes "GHOR"easily ! and THAT on it's own was a " talent ".....LOL
Then when it was being too soft due to it's age it was the time to make it a "DO LAAYE"
GGGGGOOOOODDDDDDD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so many memories !!
(team-e varzandeh aamaade-ye mosabeghe ast )
I wrote this on the walls in the neighborhood with a piece of ZOGHAAL about 45 years ago.

Mosabeghate' Zeere' Pole' Gisha!
by Keegaan (Gisha) (not verified) on Mon Feb 11, 2008 09:30 AM PSTI played many important "Gol Kuchic" tournoments under the Gisha Bridge every summer from age 10 to 14! (In Tehran)
We had many of these balls (Toop Pelastici).
Gool Kuchic tournoments were organized by our Neigborhood (Gisha, Khyaboone' Baloochestaan)
Kids from South of Tehran (as far as Hashemi & Abbasi),
From west : Shahraraa, Pole taj, Aryashahr, barge' Alestom & etc...
From East : Amirabaad, Karim Khaan, Abaasabaad, Takhte' Taavoos...
From North:
Vanak, Khyaboon Pahlavi, Jordan, Shemroon, Sare' Pole Tajreesh and Neeyavaroon...
4X4 & 3X3 Footballe' Gool Kuchick tournoments under Gisha bridge.
Anyone been there?
We won 2 years in a row in the Final (Gisha, Balochestaan kids...)
Too bad we didn't have any one to film us back then... And later most of us, we escaped the country for being against the TYRANNY of Islamic Republic... Iran became OCCUPIED by the bastards NON- IRANIAN TERRORISTS...
I rule in gol kuchik
by Jamaleto (not verified) on Mon Feb 11, 2008 07:41 AM PSTI dare anyone to play with me and my buddy gol kuchik. I will provide the ball. yadesh bekhair
Now if it was the west
by XerXes (not verified) on Mon Feb 11, 2008 07:39 AM PSTOr US, someone would have come up with a 2 layeh version pre-made. I was also thinking, we used to play haftsang, if it was the west, wouldn't you think they would have come up with a packaged haft sang game tools? Just the thought for those who want to be a millionaire in Iran :)

memories of "footbale gol koochick" in old, narrow and rough alleys of Iran is revitalized.
This is an Iranian teenage invention which fairly maximized the applicability of the item with minimum of the materials.
