Wikipedia: The city lies on the River Arno and is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture. A centre of medieval European trade and finance and one of the wealthiest cities of the time, Florence is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance; it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages >>>

Real David

by shaghayegh15 on

Hi JJ,

These are wonderful photos. I truly enjoyed every single one of them. I have one question though: did you go to see the real David statue at " Galleria dell'Accademi" ?

What a wonderful place to be during this season.

Thank you for sharing JJ ;)

Florence

Indeed a beautiful city. My favorite spot was a small cafe in the corner of Baboli Garden. What a view!

Thanks to cyber space, you seem to have moved your office to Soleiman's flying carpet!

From top five cities in Europe, I have only seen the "maybe"

by Anahid Hojjati on

So it turns out that from top five cities in Europe, I have only seen London and that one, you are not even sure that it is a top five. You wrote Maybe.

Khar

you gotta love the hat in 003 and 006

by Khar on

Mr. J, the hat makes you look like an authentic Peruvian Llama herder :o) . But Seriously not very many people have the opportunity nor the time to travel the world like you do, enjoy every bit of it! Thanks for the pictures, especially the ones taken in this series at night they take the viewer to the location along with you. May I suggest to dedicate a permanent page on IC specifically for your travel pictures.

Fesenjoon

JJ, let me ask u...

by Fesenjoon on

So how would u rank your top 5 cities youve visited in Europe? (Which top 5 cities would u rank in order, for recommending a visit?)

Jahanshah Javid

Thanks :)

by Jahanshah Javid on

Darius: That's funny :)))

Anahid: I forgot all about the Renaissance while I was there. But appreciated the spirit. It's an amazing place.

Anonymous Observer: The bartender explained what was in the Kahlua drink but I couldn't hear. But it had actual coffee beans in it. It had a strong tangy taste.

Monda: Thanks! Florence makes it easy to take nice pictures. My favorite is 173 too.

Anonymouse: Didn't go o top of the Duomo. I didn't really plan anything. I was just wondering around bumping into this or that monument.

Souri: Names are not that important. If you go there you will see all of these places in a very small area. You won't miss a thing. Every corner is beautiful.

Tehran: I'm not sure why those two Iranians were in such a bad mood. I think they know Iranians will not spend a dime on portraits so they just weren't in the mood to be nice just because I was a hamvatan.

Cousin Mehrdad, You Jinks It!

Now it doesn't work for me either! I think Fooad is messing with us.

But, if you go to First or Last and press Next or Previous, it should work, unless Fooad is messing with you again!

Great Pictures JJ!

I learned something new today. If you start from the last picture (instead of the first one), you don't need to move the mouse to go to the next picture!

Amazing!

Tehran

So, how come “Thing 1” & ”Thing 2” didn’t like you??

by Tehran on

Great shots, seeing these makes me hate the city I live in
even  more,,,just kidding.!!!

Good thing I already had lunch before started to see these
otherwise I would have been shahieed after seeing some the pictures of food and ice cream here.

Looking at some of the close up pictures proves to me my theory
of:  “There is a thirteen year old boy stuck in every man’s body”

So, how come “Thing 1” & ”Thing 2” didn’t like you?? (#84)

I wish you would also include the name of the places. Like that big Cathedral (the Green dome) which is the main center of attention in Florence (Firenze) I forgot the name. What is its name?

And that park wher Mickael anglelo's David is.

Regrdless, those were wonderful pictures. Thanks for the great job and having shared those amazing souvenirs with us.

The good behavior of the people, warms our heart and make us thankful.....  And the bad ones, just make us to recognize and appreciate the good ones!

Anonymouse

Nice pictures! 356 pics!

by Anonymouse on

You didn't go to the top of Duomo?  You take about 400 or so steps, inside the Duomo snake around to the top and when you get there and out of breath the entire Florence is under your step.

Everything is sacred

Anonymous Observer

What was in that Kahlua drink?

by Anonymous Observer on

I'm looking for good Kahlua recipes.

Anahid Hojjati

Dear Jahanshah, you had me at: birthplace of the Renaissance

by Anahid Hojjati on

Dear JJ, you made my interest in seeing pictures of Florence much more where you wrote:"Florence is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance; it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages, ", now if we could only have our own Florence in Iran.

I will look at the pictures and I am sure that they will be great since all Italy looks amazing. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us.
