by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Feb 26, 2011 04:47 PM PSTYes I would have opposed prop 19. Rather because it actually increased penalties for marijuana under many conditions. I have a very liberal friend who is a prosecutor in California. He told me the way the proposition was written it would actually get more people in jail.

by fidelio5 on Sat Feb 26, 2011 12:05 PM PSTWould you have opposed prop 19 because it was half baked?
Baby steps I say. I think all narcotics should be legalized but first things first.
As half baked as Prop 19 was, I supported it because it was a small step in the right direction.
Any way were quibbling over semantics.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Feb 26, 2011 02:42 AM PSTRead my post: I said people have to first be honest with themselves. People like to get high. But they are full of *** and don't want to admit it. So they pretend to have a "higher calling". Yes right! Then they do idiotic things in the name of their calling.
I rather they admit they like to get high and just get on with it. No need for BS about the divine and ... Also: I said LEGALIZATION not Decrminialization. The latter is a half baked measure and does not go far enough. I want 100% legalization.

Just as soon as we are honest enough to admit we like to get high. Then legalize opium and other drugs. If you want to get high; do it right.
Pain
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Fri Feb 25, 2011 06:20 AM PSTThe infliction of pain releases "endorphines" in the body. That gives one a natural high which is similar to opiates. That is the most likely scientific explanation of why people do this. Sure they try to make it sound spiritual but the hard facts are that: you feel pain; you get high.
Personally I just as soon do the opium :-) However unfortunately it is illegal. So people do this under the guise of spiritualism all the way to B&D.

Pain & beauty
by Jahanshah Javid on Wed Feb 23, 2011 02:17 PM PSTIt's difficult for me to understand this need to inflict plain to one's own body for the love of god. It reminds me of similar rituals during Ashoora.
Having said that, there's a lot of beauty involved in this Hindu celebration as well.
I learned.
Thank you for sharing :)
